Better check all those supplies for bugs (of both the viral and listening variety)!
This is nuts. Kremlin spox Peskov says Trump accepted Putin's offer to send a flight w #coronavirus medical equipment to US. Details willl be handled at the working level. Hopefully someone will tell Trump that he's playing right into a propaganda ploy https://t.co/TbVQ0BPY3j pic.twitter.com/xAuF0Ak2Kp

From the past thread:
Originally posted by KeplerAre you saying that there are trusted public figures who are accusing Biden of being a rapist? Or are you saying they are serving as the conduit for crazies (or bots) to inject that into the national bloodstream by retweeting those accusations? And if the latter are they doing so in trying to rebut them or are they cynically passing it along to gather clicks or approvals or whatever the social media currency they monetize is?
Originally posted by dxNot sure what the 54 million figure is getting at. If you're trying to figure out infectinos, that's bad math. You're more likely to get tested if you're sick. It also doesn't preclude you from getting sick if you test negative.
I know you're smarter than that, so that's why I'm curious what you're getting at.
So basically I am not proving anything, just throwing out some numbers based on what we currently know and expanding it to the population at large. It is a worst case scenario. Not scientific or meant to do anything but kinda put in context the numbers we have so far.Last edited by Handyman; 03-31-2020, 02:44 PM."It's as if the Drumpf Administration is made up of the worst and unfunny parts of the Cleveland Browns, Washington Generals, and the alien Mon-Stars from Space Jam."

This is an aircraft carrier. This is a critical component of our national security posture. Where is the president? Why did the captain have to go public? https://t.co/kB49T25HZJ
Regarding using tape in grocery stores for social distancing: It's not dumb that they're doing it, it's sad they have to because otherwise people are too dumb to do it on their own.

I wasnt getting at anything except to show what the numbers would be if, in a hypothetical situation, everyone in the country became infected. All I was doing was extrapolating the numbers out to show what we are talking about if this thing spirals out of control. (and obviously not taking into account any other factors because we cant know most of them until after we are done with this)
So basically I am not proving anything, just throwing out some numbers based on what we currently know and expanding it to the population at large. It is a worst case scenario. Not scientific or meant to do anything but kinda put in context the numbers we have so far.

When you cited "public figures" and "media" I was thinking it was reporters, analysts, or staffers. That would be 1000x worse since those people ought to know better and are serving something larger than their own Q score.Cornell University

Originally posted by BassAle View Postyou can't really use the % testing positive now to extrapolate the total population that eventually becomes infected. Some of those testing negative now can and will become infected later.
80% exposed
20% of exposed infected
02% of infected dead
For the world:
9 billion population
7.2 billion exposed
1.4 billion infected
29 million dead
For the US:
330 million population
264 million exposed
53 million infected
1.1 million dead
For comparison, the CDC estimated 38-54M flu illnesses this season, so down to the level of infection the numbers check. The trick is to keep the number of deaths closer to what it is for the flu (60,000) than it would be if we had absolutely no immunity or vaccine (a brand new virus).Last edited by Kepler; 03-31-2020, 03:08 PM.Cornell University
