I'm glad you brought up the subject of unhhockeyrecruits.blogspot.com and, I'd like to add, the former UNH Men's Hockey Blog (TUMHB).
Season in and season out, TUMHB was one of the most, if not the most informative Division 1 hockey blogs around. I miss the timely and difficult to find information that routinely showed up on the UNH Men's Hockey Blog. I honestly did not know who created and maintained that blog and I certainly did not know it was Chris Heisenberg. I do remember a very contentious series of posts on a UNH thread a couple of seasons ago when a poster identified as "unhhockeybloggerguy" (or some name like that) received numerous criticisms that he was taking the side of the players. At the time, several posters wanted to hang Coach Umile and the players by their thumbs (hyperbole) for not advancing in the NCAA tournament. If the "unhhockeybloggerguy" and the author of the UNH Men's Hockey Blog were the same person, I can understand how he might have lost the appetite for maintaining the blog.

The information that I find comes, almost exclusively, from Google searches. I try to verify new information by identifying the source and, whenever possible, try to identify more than one source. It's pretty amazing how much more information is available on the internet than even a year or two ago. For example, all leagues and teams now provide almost up to the minute data on games in progress and the boxscores are very detailed.

At best, the folks who post on this thread, including myself, don't come close to providing the quantity or quality of information that used to appear on the UNH Men's Hockey Blog. It would be great to see that blog come back. The author had access to much more information than we can scrape together on this thread. And, more importantly, he had developed a reputation for providing reliable information.

Thanks 5IW - that was a lot of work. One suggestion on where you could put it is on the "College Alumni Update" sub-forum. The main downside to that spot is that it doesn't get many viewers so there isn't much discussion. I've noticed that some team threads on the "Division 1" sub-forum will include posts on how former players are doing in the pros. I know this isn't technically the way it is supposed to be done but it does generate more views and discussion. A number of fairly recent grads are doing very well in the AHL (e.g., Micflikier, Butler, Fornataro) and there's JvR, Winnik, and Conklin in the NHL. It would be fun to read/write posts on these guys.

The matchup between goalie recruits Casey DeSmith and Cody Campbell didn't materialize. DeSmith and the Indiana Ice lost to Cedar Rapids in overtime but Campbell did not play.

Did Campbell accept the deferral to 2012, or still considering?
A running tally: Keith Yandle, Ryan Bourque, Cam Reid, Matt White, Joey Laleggia, Mike Vecchione.

It only took 2011 recruit Jay Camper two periods to score a hat trick against 2012 recruit Cody Campbell.
                  Final numbers - 30 shots, 23 saves, 7 goals allowed - ouch.

Maybe big bro didn't take all the offensive genes in that family. Little Camper also had a fight in that game. Not bad.

Trevor van Reimsdyk scored another power play goal today. He has the most points for a defenseman in the Eastern Junior Hockey League.

In USHL action this week, Jay Camper had a hat trick and Casey Thrush scored 2 goals.

Thanks johng for the tip on this website. It contains a lot of useful information - it even includes Danny Dries

The information provided on players who have committed to UNH is incomplete. There are several players missing. For commits who are listed, some of the stats are not up-to-date, the year they plan to attend UNH aren't always accurate, and the source confirming the commitment are often not the best source available on the web.

Al-in-all, though, the "where are they now" service is very helpful for tracking former UNH players.

For commits who are listed, some of the stats are not up-to-date, the year they plan to attend UNH aren't always accurate, and the source confirming the commitment are often not the best source available on the web.

Al-in-all, though, the "where are they now" service is very helpful for tracking former UNH players.
I'll compare/contrast Chris Heisenberg's commitment list -- is there anyone missing from his list? Not sure if Dylan Maller was on it but he was just added to EP.

edit: there was a handful missing from CH's list, all added

Very cool website. I added Dylan Maller just to see how and if the database worked. The information I entered on him came up within minutes.

                              So here's how it works:
` Any viewer of the eliteprospects site can add the name of a committed player along with his current team, the year he will enter UNH and join the team, and the webpage confirming the player's commitment to UNH
` The eliteprospects database fills in basic info (no pictures) including hometown, weight/height, and the current (or relatively recent) scoring statistics for the player.
` The accuracy of the commitment information is dependent on the person entering the data. For example, the database shows that Casey DeSmith will enter UNH in 2012. However, a published article in DeSmith's hometown newspaper stated that he will be coming to UNH for the 2011/2012 season.

What's the process for correcting and/or updating information on the player's commitment? Who is responsible for verifying the accuracy of the information?

i saw the submitted transaction and added him. =)

it's all dependent on the designated "guy" for each league how stuff gets updated. I do all the NCAA (DI) and the USHL work on EP, but being a UNH grad I give UNH a little extra attention. guys like vecchione/chevrier really I feel bad for as the USHS stats etc... probably won't get updated more than twice a year as high school stats aren't that reliable nor is there really a dedicated guy to update USHS stats/histories etc... no excuses, for stuff like Desmith, but sometimes I've put the commitment dates out further than they should be as keeping XX number of NCAA commitments correct as well as keeping the current stats up to date is a handful. good news is that there wasn't a dedicated USHL/NCAA guy on EP before but I've been working on keeping them up to date as well as filling in their histories for the past year. you may notice that UNH stats are filled in back to the late 60's, where as other schools are just in the queue to be done, as mentioned I give UNH special treatment. a lot of the past UNH peripherals are incomplete (ages/hometown/possibly position) which I tried to remedy by asking the UNH SI Dept to help me out by sending me the historical data (which I know exists as I updated it while I was a workstudy kid) but I'm still awaiting it's arrival, well more so I'm still awaiting the return email response

any thing you need fixed/added/ just let me know and I'll take care of it.
