  • Stars align for charity hockey for former UMass-Lowell player

Former UMass-Lowell player Craig Charron has cancer. Some current and former hockey stars are gathering in Rochester (Charron being a former Amerk) tomorrow for a charity hockey game.

    From the Democrat and Chronicle:

White Team: David Leggio, Vinnie Pizzo, Rory Fitzpatrick, Jim Wiemer, Craig Muni, Kevin Quick, Tom Pizzo, Brian Gionta, Stephen Gionta, Scott Nichol, Patrick Kaleta, Randy Cunneyworth, Jason Cipolla, Adam Mair, Jody Gage, Mark McCutcheon, Chris Collins.

Red Team: Billy Sauer, Jim Pettie, Lindy Ruff, Nathan Paetsch, Bryan Muir, David Shields, Dan Ringwald, Ryan Callahan, Tim Connolly, Marty Reasoner, Andrew Peters, Geoff Peters, Rob Ray, Scott Metcalfe, Scott Bartlett, Gates Orlando, Paul Baier.

Officials: Peter Feola, Dan Murphy, Brian Lemon, Derek Sylvester.
They also report that The French Connection (Perreault/Martin/Robert) will be on hand off the ice, along with other honorary coaches and dignitaries.

Thought some of you might be interested in the number of former college standouts playing in this game to help another former college player.

You leave out that among the honorary coaches will be 1980 team members, and former college players (duh), Jimmy Craig and Mike Eruzione?

But in all seriousness, this looks like it's a great way to raise funds for a good cause. I've heard that some of the local advertisement hasn't been the greatest, but they're still expecting a good turnout. I hope this is successful. Sounds like it'll be a lot of fun for all the players/coaches involved, too.
