Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.
At one of my plants yesterday the plant manager has moved the goalposts with wholly made up numbers as far as the coronavirus is concerned. He doesn't understand why we took this so seriously when everybody knows the flu kills 120,00-160,000 every year in this country.
My assumption is that perhaps those kinds of #s are now trending on the social media outlets that half of all Americans (and probably 90% of all trump supporters) rely on for their news? It wouldn't surprise me as the idiots have to find justification for their idiocy, and made up statistics and lies to these idiots carry far more weight than the verifiable truth.
I corrected him by pointing him to more accurate numbers where the CDC estimated that two seasons ago, in a fairly robust season for the virus, an estimated 60,000 died, and we haven't seen 160,000 or more dying from the flu since the 1918 pandemic. And that was WITHOUT the extreme measures we have taken in the fight against the coronavirus, and it was over a full season, 6+ months, not 6+ weeks.
People are so stupid it frightens me. Someone posted the Bonhoeffer quote about stupidity being more dangerous than evil recently, from his Letters and Papers From Prison. My how it fits the times we live in today. The idiot I was speaking to yesterday is likely much more evil than stupid, but what can be done when the stupid pose as great or greater a threat than the merely evil? It isn't as if enough of them are going to be exposed to the coronavirus and drink a gallon of bleach.

Siri, what's an example of the worst walk-back you could come up with if you had a million years to try? https://t.co/DgmzWxi3ju

As if this couldn't get wilder, a scam artist in Florida has written and contacted Trump repeatedly recently to push his "Miracle Mineral Cure" of industrial bleach as a cure for Coronavirus.
You know that saying that when you play poker and can't spot the mark, the mark is you? That's Trump. He's the mark.“Demolish the bridges behind you… then there is no choice but to build again.”

No Joe, no!!
Over 100 people in one state called a hotline asking if they could ingest disinfectant as a counter to CV. But please explain how Trump doesn’t have blood on his hands after saying I’m not a doctor but (1) it’s a hoax (2) maybe take hydroxychloroquine (3) maybe use Lysol…? https://t.co/3iE5YPduwx

Some #MAGAs even before Trump's walk back were claiming, "No one would be stupid enough to blah, blah, blah" just because of something Trump said and if they did they were probably a Democrat. I asked if they were familiar with the man from OH that refused to isolate because Covid is a hoax and then died from it, and if they were sure he was a D? Nothing but crickets since.

That Maryland had to post a warning against doing so
or
that more than 100 people called and asked them if it was ok.What kind of cheese are you planning to put on top?

Cant wait
“ BREAKING: Georgia reported 635 new coronavirus cases and 20 more deaths in a 24-hour period ending at noon on Friday, the same day GOP Gov. Brian Kemp is letting some businesses like barbershops and nail salons reopen.”
