Well, we'll never have to worry about this being called the Trump Flu if that is the criteria.

Yeah, I had read it started in Kansas.

Alaska Hospital executive fired for sharing conspiracy meme in company email

For many in Bristol Bay the global pandemic recalls family histories of widespread deaths during the Spanish Flu.

“We are the survivors of the survivors of the orphans of the Spanish Flu,” said Gayla Hoseth, second chief for the Dillingham-based Curyung Tribal Council. The tribe declared a state of emergency due to the coronavirus on Tuesday.

I think it may be the same source.

Also interesting: when "OH NOES SOCIALISM!!11!" chambers of commerce and city fathers would withhold funds from emergency efforts the population would simply seize the funds and use it to address the problem. Even back then conservatives wanted us to die for business, and there comes a point where people just tell the rich to DIAF.

          Good.

              Good.
I referenced this book earlier, but John Barry's book on the 1918 influenza epidemic is great.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Ah, it was you. I knew somebody had brought it up. If you liked it I recommend that clip I posted -- it is based on the book.

More like 75% mortality for in-hospital arrest (most numbers are for surviving to discharge from the hospital). The numbers are worse out of hospital. That does not account for the morbidity (read brain or other end organ damage) that one suffers from an arrest that is survivable. Do not misread me, we should still do CPR and resuscitate however you are swimming upstream.
