Anyone can do a search of how the U.S. fares with the rest of the developed world as far as the health of our citizens goes.

Major reforms need to happen. What's this I read that Trump blocked entrance into the health care portals? What plan does he have for health care hes had 3 years to come up with something??? It's a disgrace...greatest nation in the world and people STILL do not have health care. It's a right...not a priviledge.

Also his "we had nothing to work with" BS..well then why didnt you fix that when you took office. I mean really...*** has he actually done for this country???

My take on HCQ is that both "sides" are right. If one of my loved ones was on the respirator path or worse, then why not give it a try? On the other hand, being healthy, moderately or even very sick, but not needing breathing support, I'd pass. No sense in risking side effects.

Yesterday's WH briefing was probably the longest one yet. Shame on CNN for not showing the President speaking. Shame. They cut in when Dr. Birx began her brilliant presentation. Visual aids drove her point home. Dr. Fauci was also excellent. If the president could parse their words and speak them as if he believed them, he would have a speech that is discussed along with the greatest in Presidential history.

President Trump simply can't help himself from speaking petty, childish words that make me cringe, but yesterday he spoke from the heart more than ever before. He has internalized the crisis, for now anyway. He may think and be correct that he can come out of this a hero in the eyes of a large majority of Americans.

VP Pence now has a "30 Days To Slow The Spread" prop. LOL.

1.1 million tests completed vs. 26 million promised.

Jim Acosta may not be a d1ckh3ad, but he sure plays one on TV.

Probably too soon to be commenting on this, but reports (yes, they are from sources like the Washington Post) are starting to surface that red states like FL, KY, OK are receiving 100%+ of requested supplies while IL, MA, ME are receiving a fraction of what they request. There (((should))) be police escorted convoys moving supplies from less infected to more infected states and then back as/when needed.

If this is true, I will never have a good word or thought for the President again. Ever.

For Illinois, Governor Pritzker has stated that on top of the reduced number of masks received (asked for one million, received 300,000), the Federal Governement sent surgical masks and not the N95 masks requested.

Interesting article on the deep dive researchers have done in studying the current COVID case data not only from China but from 37 other countries

If you go to the link on the Lancet case study, the "Discussion" portion of the article is well worth a read, as is the entire summary.

Time for an extended run-through of yesterday's fan mail, which was a decidedly mixed bag ...

And I'm not partisan, so you pointing to Feinstein does not make me recoil. If she broke the law, then so be it. I understand that there are some facts that make her potentially different than the three republicans (Inofe, Loeffler and Burr) like she missed the meeting, and I thought I read that her husband was already in negotiations to sell the stock so it was a "one-off" and not a dumping, and also the stock actually went up in the post market. But those are facts to be sorted out, and again, I have no skin the game of defending them. You seem to want to play gotcha a lot -- when we point out a flaw in your tribe, you resort to "but the WHO, but China, but Feinstein..." I prefer to call them fairly.
You would probably be surprised to learn that one of my HS social studies/current events teachers - who doubled as the head hockey coach back in the mid-'70's - made us all subscribe to the Times for a year as part of the curriculum. I ended up taking a second year with the same teacher, next level, because it opened my mind to a lot of new things and ideas. The one thing I'll always remember from my teacher was that he pointed out the difference between the News and Editorial sides of their operation, and how their editor (Rosenthal at the time?) made sure that News didn't let Editorial seep into their reporting.

It's been a LONG time since Rosenthal left the editor's desk, and it's been a LONG time since the Times enforced his separation of News and Editorial. And with widely publicized instances where News has ******ed about how headlines were too kind to the President for their liking - and gotten their way - the current Times sadly bears no resemblance to past editions. And when you haven't backed a GOP presidential candidate for going on 68 years (presuming Biden will get their nod this time) you kind of give up any pretense of objectivity, don't you?

I've actually given a lot of thought on our disconnect on the "blame pie" thing, 'Watcher. I have a rough example in mind, but I'll hold off on adding it here, as this is already going to be a long enough post ...

Red Barchetta. Is his playing superior to Lifeson, even though the bass is generally a stupid instrument.
Second, if you could trade a virus vaccine for developing the electric guitar, would you do it?
HUGE fan of Geddy's bass runs. I figure when playing Rush while driving, it's an even split between air drums and air bass, with maybe a 10% share for Lifeson's lead guitar (probably more "Snow Dog" on the older stuff). As to the second part … there's not nearly enough electric guitar in music these days, I don't see a comeback in my (our?) lifetime, so yeah, I make that trade only because I'm giving up on something that's not really around in a major way these days.

Had President Trump tested...what is your number...800k...in freakin' February then Hail to the Chief and thump your chest. So yea us that we finally tested more people than ROK. I'll still be washing my f*c*ing groceries in June. And who gives a ***** about China.

Folks, there is more involved in protecting the American way of life than simply fielding an army. And that's where President Trump failed all of us. Miserably.
I notice you didn't provide me the data for total tests, even when I said you could sway me with it. Interestingly, during yesterday's briefing, the total number of US tests was disclosed at roughly 1.1 million - right in between my projection of 800K-1.5 million. And increasing by 100K per day, so it was probably "only" 1.0 million when you said he was "incorrect".

And as far as supposed delays by Trump's team … listening to Drs. Fauci and Birx yesterday, they were asked that question in several forms by Jim Acosta, and they're not buying your pitch. Those are the experts, as we were told by you folks, back when you guys dreamed up your little fantasy about how Dr. Fauci was secretly against "Bad Orange Man". When faced with the facts that many Americans will die, I would HOPE he could show some empathy.... What did he think would happen here? Did he not see the suffering in Wuhan and Italy? Anyway, it doesn't do any good to go over any of this at this late date in all of this...let history judge when it's all said and done. Hero? That's a **** tall order. The heroes are the people who are out there working in the midst of this virus; the health care workers, those still working at the super markets, etc. Honestly...there's nothing heroic he has done to date. He golfed and held rallies while this virus was taking hold of HIS country. Sorry; I just can't go there. But many will see him in that light and that's there thing. Oh, and the governors (maybe not DeSantis as he's done a TERRIBLE job in Fla IMHO) who really get it about this? They are on my hero list....regardless of their political affiliation. They are thinking FIRST about their constituents...not ratings, ugh!!

You hit the nail on the head and I've said this many times to my husband who supports him...if he could just stay on topic, drop the petty stuff, I'd have some respect for him. I don't need Mr. Rogers (although how cool would that be) to be the President...but his track record of putting himself and his family first is just too lengthy for me to really give him much of a break. But so what, who cares what I think anyway lol.

They, as always, stick to the current data and facts. Can't predict the future, the data we have is the data we have. No sense or benefit to revisiting the past.

I agree we have done more tests, but THAT IS NOT WHAT OUR PRESIDENT IS LEADING US TO BELIEVE. We didn't even pass ROK until 3/24. And since ROK has this under control their need for testing has decreased. And even today we're only 2x Italy in tests. And 2x is not anything to write home about when you look at total tests/million people which is actually the point of all of this, right Chuck?
