ecat, you are correct that some of my "teammates" occasionally indulge in that type of behavior and I should've mentioned that in my post. Still, I also don't feel its anywhere close to a 50/50 split. Is it 90/10 or 80/20 of "righties" vs "lefties" doing it? No. But it its probably 60/40 or 65/35. In my opinion? Yes, I think it is. Heck, we don't have to look any further than dontstayathome's first few posts today for an example. He comes right out of the gate being overtly confrontational. To close, I just believe that we need to disagree/debate the information as respectfully as we can if we're ever going to truly move forward.

I agree that the debate should be respectful. Maybe throwing in a little humor and satire might be helpful from the left also to take the edge off. BTW, Chuck is an accomplished satirist!

I mean, other than the lefties who are "living the dream" with a command economy, restrictions on our personal liberties and Constitutional rights, and taking orders from DNC toadies all throughout the MSM landscape. I see you lapsed into another three-section screed earlier, so it looks like you chose to ignore my "quality over quantity" advice. For what it's worth, I skipped the "odyssey" this time, so your New Poster Smell (and yeah, 15 years reading before, not creepy at all … ) is apparently wearing off. I guess I'm relieved that it's just not me that's pushing your buttons.

Anyway, I guess this is the guy who 'Watcher suspected of being "me", and while I've told you that's not the case - and anyone who wants to check with the USCHO mods, go for it - I did like the way s/he wrapped up on the following conclusions fo a pair of their posts:

The point being, we need to stop handing our rights over to the govt because we may get sick. I’m astonished at the people so happily giving up their rights because of false models and predictions of our panic stricken media. People are legit rooting for tyranny and arrests/fines at gun point because people are sitting on a beach. These are also the same people who scream that Trump is a dictator and compare him to hitler. It’s confusing times for sure. Especially by the left.

There is a point where yes we have to go back to work. We all know that the majority of people dying from the Chinese virus are old and weak. We obviously hate seeing our loved ones die. But. At what point do we need to understand the common decency of providing for them who are willing to work. It’s u fair to hold a country hostage for a minor amount of deaths of weak people. We love all our Americans whether you are old young black white healthy or sick. We should do our best to protect people from illness but still we have to consider the future of our country.

Maybe you and my stalker Net can get together and hash this all out for us/me?

The second one there is a little "hot" for me, but the underlying point does take us back to where the discussion was a few weeks ago on our original D-1 thread. At some point, the "cure" is going to become more costly than the disease. I'm kind of OK to a degree with what we're doing now, but this has to end. The models have scared the bejeezus out of ordinary folks, and now the models are coming under scrutiny when millions of forecasted deaths, and then hundreds of thousands, are now being revised to tens of thousands. AND the death count, per Dr. Birx yesterday, is being "liberally" counted. Which likely means many deaths being counted as being FROM COVID-19 are simply deaths from other causes by people WITH COVID-19.

All lives are to be valued … but who will be counting the many additional deaths from depression, substance abuse recidivism, and poverty directly related to unemployment? Especially if IHME models - the basis upon which we have this shutdown - are shown to have been alarmingly overstated?

It's definitely trending in that direction. And remember, boys and girls, global cooling global warming climate change is built on models just like those. TTFN.

Trump has been the most vile, divisive, childish, dishonest and selfish president we've ever had and it's not even close for 2nd place. At least the reactions he causes he brought upon himself.

You are told by the pandemic media that we are saving lives by social distancing. Nobody actually knows the truth behind that, because we don’t have an isolated model for comparison.

We do have "models" for comparison which is the before and after results of populated areas that enacted SAH orders. Also for something that supposedly doesn't work it's curious the next words off your keyboard were: do agree, like the flu, to not have contact with sick people. That’s a given.

This reminds me of the protesters in (Michigan?) demanding the state end SAH orders while social distancing themselves during their protest. Seems like a legit demand.
