This is just a scheme to make maverick fans even more miserable, isn't it? Dammit, this was a good team.
Mess with the bull, you get the horns.

      What a finish!!

      Frozen Four Semifinal - Detroit

      #1 – Minnesota State v. #2 – Boston College
Mankato regained their two-goal advantage early in the third period when Senior wunderkind Marc Michaelis won a puck battle behind the BC net, skated out to the bottom of the far circle, and roofed a wrister over Knight. The unassisted goal put Minnesota State up 3-1, and BC then unleashed a storm of an attack. Following the Michaelis goal, Boston College flung nine shots on goal in a six minute span, and while McKay showcased his All-American talent, the ninth of those shots, a backhand off a rebound at the edge of the crease, slipped through McKay’s armpit, and found the back of the net, and with a half-period left to play, the Eagles pulled back within a goal at 3-2. Minnesota State pushed back to stem BC’s momentum, and the two sides skated back-and-forth in a wonderful display of racehorse hockey over the following eight minutes of play. However, it would be the goalies, Knight and McKay, who shone brilliantly during this stage, making great stop after great stop. As the clock ticked towards zeroes, Boston College made one final charge, pulling Knight and pushing for the equalizer. However, with just over a minute to go, Dallas Gerads won a puck battle along the far boards in the Mavericks’ zone, chipped the puck out to center ice, and the player of the game, Nicholas Rivera, outhustled the BC defender to the puck, gained control at the red line, and zipped it down into the gaping net to give MSU a 4-2 advantage. That would prove to be the nail in the coffin, and while the Eagles desperately tried to get it back within a goal, when the final buzzer rang, it was the Minnesota State Mavericks advancing to the NCAA National Championship game, with a 4-2 victory over the Boston College Eagles.

Oh my, this is what we Maverick fans were looking forward to all year. My hope was that we would play North Dakota one more time this year.

So, CHN botched their Frozen Four matchups, and instead had Minnesota State taking on Denver, and North Dakota taking on Boston College at the Frozen Four. Obviously, it is a simulation, so who cares, but at least get the basic details of who would have played who correct. Terrible. It completely invalidates their simulation, leaving this simulation as the true and correct one.

                  Frozen Four Semifinal - Detroit

                  #1 – Minnesota State v. #2 – Boston College
The Minnesota State Mavericks, making their first ever trip to the Frozen Four after winning their first two NCAA Tournament games in Allentown just a week-and-a-half ago, squared off against the Boston College Eagles, appearing in their NCAA-record 26th Frozen Four, in the afternoon tilt of the NCAA Tournament Semifinals today in Detroit. Coach York tabbed Spencer Knight to man the pipes for the Eagles, while MSU went with Hobey Baker Finalist Dryden McKay. McKay got the better of Knight in the opening frame, as McKay stopped all 11 shots the Eagles put on net, including three huge stops on the penalty kill midway through the period after Connor Mackey was called for interference. While Knight stood strong for BC in the first half, just after Mackey’s penalty expired, Charlie Gerard dumped the puck into the Eagles zone and Nicholas Rivera won the race to the puck in the near corner. Rivera then slid the puck to a streaking Parker Tuomie in the slot, who roofed a wrister over Knight’s glove to put the Mavericks up 1-0. Knight held Minnesota State in check the rest of the way in the first, and after twenty minutes of play, Minnesota State held a 1-0 lead over Boston College.
A "game thread" would be fun - at least if the right teams are playing.

                    Frozen Four Semifinal - Detroit

                    #1 – North Dakota v. #4 – Ohio State
The top overall seed, and NCHC Regular Season and Tournament Champions, the North Dakota Fighting Hawks, met up with the Big Ten’s Ohio State Buckeyes in the evening contest of the NCAA Tournament Semifinals in Detroit. The Fighting Hawks, looking to extend their NCAA-record for appearances in the national title game to fourteen, went with Adam Scheel in net, while the Buckeyes, looking for their first ever national title game appearance, went with Tommy Nappier. Nappier was tested early and often in the first period, facing eight UND shots in the first half of the period, but Nappier was up to the task, keeping the Fighting Hawks off the board in the first ten minutes. Meanwhile, Scheel was Nappier’s equal in the first period, stopping each of the Buckeyes’ nine shots on goal. It appeared that the game would be scoreless through twenty minutes, but with just under a minute to play, Hobey Hat Trick finalist, Jordan Kawaguchi, made a beautiful cross ice pass to Grant Mismash at the far circle. Mismash ripped a one-timer that beat Nappier, and after one period of action, North Dakota held a 1-0 lead.

                          #1 – North Dakota v. #4 – Ohio State
Early in the second period, Ohio State earned an amazing opportunity. Just seconds after Shane Pinto was called for roughing, Westin Michaud was called for tripping, getting his stick between the legs of Quinn Preston, who fell to the ice. The penalty gave the Buckeyes an extended two-man advantage. Ohio State bombarded the North Dakota net with seven shots on goal, but Scheel stood tall, keeping all seven shots out of the net. Just as Michaud stepped back out on the ice, Colton Poolman won a battle for a loose puck in the near corner of UND’s end, and flipped the puck out into the neutral zone, which found the Senior forward who skated in by himself and roofed a wrister past Nappier to put North Dakota up 2-0. North Dakota pushed hard for what looked like it would be the dagger, but Ohio State effectively neutralized the Fighting Hawks in the second period, and with just over four minutes to play in the middle stanza, Tate Singleton captured a loose puck behind the North Dakota net, and found Ronnie Hein at the top of the crease. Hein slightly mistimed his one-timer, but caught just enough of the puck to flutter it over Scheel’s outstretched blocker and into the back of the net to pull the Buckeyes back within one. Ohio State nearly found the equalizer in the dying embers of the second period, when Carson Meyer and Quinn Preston skated in on a 2x1. Meyer floated a pass at the circles over to Preston, who ripped a one-timer, but Scheel read the play perfectly and had just enough flexibility to get his glove in place to snag the puck that appeared destined for the back of the net. Thanks to Scheel’s beauty of a save, after forty minutes of action, North Dakota held on to a 2-1 lead.

Obviously they don't know what caused your action. Two minutes maybe but a game misconduct? I don't think so.

                                Frozen Four Semifinal - Detroit

                                #1 – North Dakota v. #4 – Ohio State
Both sides came out in the third period desperate for the next goal. Ohio State’s Matt Miller unleashed a bomb from the point early in the period that deflected off a UND defender’s body and bounced towards the net, but it hit the far post and went back under Scheel’s leg pad to keep the game at 2-1. North Dakota then got its opportunity on the powerplay, and Kawaguchi found the puck with some space at the far circle, and lifted a wrister that had top shelf written on it, but Nappier showed that his glove had some magic in it as well, snagging the puck at the last second. As the third period wore on, both sides tightened down the grade A opportunities, and the crowd tensed. Nappier stopped all six shots fired on net in the middle eight minutes of the third period, and Scheel was his equal, thwarting each of OSU’s seven chances. As the clock ticked down, Ohio State pushed for to knot the game. However, it was not meant to be for the Buckeyes, as Scheel kept OSU off the board in the final frame. When the horn sounded, and the clock struck midnight for the Cinderella Ohio State Buckeyes, the scoreboard showed the North Dakota Fighting Hawks earning a spot against Minnesota State in the National Championship on Saturday evening with a 2-1 victory over Ohio State.
