Wow, The Hangover still has some legs, eh.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

And I don't think Delaware was ever watching Juwanna Mann, much less in 2020.

This ought to go go over calmly and rationally, with no objections or outbursts from the Cleetuses in the gallery whatsoever.

Lee is overrated anyways. Stonewall Jackson was responsible for the victories Lee got credit for. Lee predicted that at Gettysburg.

Lee didn't want the Confederacy memorialized either. OTOH, he also didn't believe in equal rights for blacks, so...

                            Neither did Lincoln.

IIRC, didn't Lincoln believe in a more phased approach to granting African Americans rights? Something about uneducated former slaves not being ready for the responsibilities of voting?

Pretty sure he wanted them shipped back to Africa because "the two races could never live side by side on equal footing."

He was a product of his society. Even a brilliant, educated, and deeply moral man born in the 19th century was very unlikely to comprehend that race meant nothing. Lincoln was far enough evolved that he recognized blacks as humans, equal in the sight of god. But he still believed they were inferior in terms of the criteria of civilized culture. He believed they were backward.

And to be fair there are backwards people. Race just has nothing to do with it.
