One of the best parts of The Princess Bride is how as a kid the author was entranced by Saturday adventure serials where the pretty girl was menaced by Ming who had in mind the ultimate fiendish desire: to marry her!

              You ever see the documentary
Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood?

About this guy Scotty, who came to Hollywood after serving in WWII, took a job at a gas station on the strip, and then made his living setting up closeted Hollywood stars with young gay men. Or not necessarily gay men. As Scotty told them, just close your eyes and pretend its your girlfriend.
What kind of cheese are you planning to put on top?

I knew he had played Tarzan and Buck Rogers and Flash Gorden and had been in a gazillion westerns and was a bit starry eyed. But he was just a regular guy who was gracious and grateful that people recognized him and asked for his autograph. Cubby was on the Mickey Mouse Club.

And speaking of Ming's daughter - Princess Ardala on "Buck Rogers" (Gil Gerard / Erin Grey in spandex version) was a 15 on a scale of 1-10.

With not much else available to do today - have been watching old movies and I must say, Rita Hayworth is still very near the top of my list. Just watched her dance the "Shorty George" with Fred Astaire and what ever 'It' is, she had it!!

In Gilda she's the most beautiful woman ever filmed. Only one even close is Geneviève Bujold in Le Roi de cœur.

Joe: I recorded a bunch of stuff off that channel over the past week or two just to be prepared for being shut in by all of this. have Adventures of Robin Hood (Errol Flynn version), Samson and Delilah (Hedy Lamarr can visit me any time!!), You Were Never Lovelier (OMG can Rita dance!!), Gunga Din (Fabulous casting!!), and Destination Tokyo (have to have at least one Cary Grant movie) to watch today. If this continues have the Magnificent Seven, Ben Hur, and Spartacus for tomorrow.
All of this escapist fare seems to me to be a lot better than listening to all the talking heads tell me 24/7 the same things over and over.
