We are going to have to learn how to discuss these differences but also keep it ratcheted down. There's a great quote the provenance of which I am blanking on, which is that whichever faction wins the nomination it will need the full support of the other in the general, so act accordingly.

I feel (surprisingly) ascendant right now as a democratic socialist and can thus be wholly magnanimous arguing from a position of strength. I hear what the Center lane is saying about electability, and about watching both tone and messaging. I fully agree with the Centrists that the Sanders campaign must be vigilant about these things and not make flubs which make the GOP's job any easier -- just as any nominee must. If Sanders is the nominee he will have all the responsibilities of a nominee: unity, acceptance, camaraderie, morale.

This is the great chance, folks. Unless something terrible happens -- either happenstance, self-inflicted wound, or sabotage -- we are going to have a sincere and committed Leftist nominee. The last time that was as close a possibility was when Henry Wallace was FDR's Veep. So, just as we all need to work together to support the nominee and ensure he beats Dump, he in turn must be pragmatic about the way he presents himself to the electorate. That does not mean compromising his values. It doesn't mean taking money from Goldman or cutting deals with Exxon. But it does mean being smart on the campaign trail.
