Re: Maine Black Bears 2020: The Hunt For Red October
I'll admit I haven't watched many games start to finish lately but that was a complete game played by Maine last night. Haven't see that in awhile. Swayman played well especially early but he wasn't the star of the game. NU didn't have a lot of room out there and Maine kept NU from getting too comfortable especially after the 1st. . A couple penalties were suspect but compared to most Maine games as of late a welcome change from the non stop parade to sin bin. Dawes goal was as good as it gets, Smith and Tralmaks criss crossing put the NU D out of position behind the play. And nice move by Tralmaks going to the net to put the game away right after NU scored on the 4 on 4.
Not sure what the heck is going on but its a welcome change from years past, congrats to the Team for getting it together.
I swear there ain't no heaven but I pray there ain't no hell.

It's been a fun ride for a few weeks now, since the break. Swayman has been elite, the team figured something out and clicked. D has been playing better, special teams solid, and the 3/4 lines are contributing. Hustle, speed, chasing loose pucks, finishing checks, has all gotten better.
Penalties, occasional problems cleanly clearing the D zone, and turnovers continues to be problems but they have overcome those things.
Big games against CT, they can do it.
They can't lay down to VT, which they have a history of doing against struggling teams.
If they can keep up the intensity down the stretch here they will end up in good shape.

Reasons to be cautiously optimistic huh? Maine fans have been reality slapped in the recent past but at least this year they have their destiny in their own hands. Couldn’t find the game last night with the internet down ..... big suck
BlackI ... so what’s up with the middle of the night postings?

You think I won’t celebrate after a Maine win vs. NU. Have you looked at Maine’s recent history against that team? Of course we should all drink to Maine... our alma mater, the college of our hearts always!
Re: Maine Black Bears 2020: The Hunt For Red October
My take from last nights game is Maine came to play from start to finish, they fore checked NU all night. Pounded them every chance they could get and it in the end wore NU down and frustrated them also...and FINALLY a game where Swayman did not have to be the hero, by stopping 40 shots or facing a barrage of 17-18 shots in a period...instead he played his game and dished the puck out and around for his d-men. This team is NOT the most talented but they do work hard and are hungry....they play with a passion and if other teams don't look out or take notice come playoff time they maybe sending a team home...instead of the other way around. Need the UConn series and have to think one game/one set of games at a time. But finally some fun to speak about...and lastly as I have said before making Alfond Arena the Ace in the hole...winning...now lets hope attendance picks up....storm or not...hockey is fun again..! No reason to stop now...…….
