If and when Gendron is done Coaching Maine Hockey...imo, and many others will think or say different which is a good thing...I myself say no to a Coach on the staff in waiting...when time comes...make the Hire and let the *NEW* Coach select his own Coaching staff and go from there...just my thoughts...knowing full well others have there's.

I’ve been thinking the same thing as well. It’s a hard thing that will be even more difficult if Maine is good next year. If they’re decent next year and red decides to retire, do we give Guite or Alfiie a chance?
When I look at the recruiting, the biggest issue has been holding onto players. Guite, leach and Allfie threw together two nice classes back to back. Starting with the Pearson/Fossier class and following with Swayman, keeper and Tralmaks. I have been disappointed by the past two classes.
I thought that was the best article that Larry has ever written to be honest. I think there’s a lot of uncertainty around the program right now, do we look at former players or do we hire from outside when the time comes? Are the issues in the program deeper than the coach? Is a new coach alone going to get Maine back to national prominence?
The next twelve months should be interesting for Maine hockey.

I would hope they hire from outside the program.

I'd have to agree, I would feel back for Guite and Alfie leaving but I think we need to find an outsider.

The programs who should be the mold for Maine are Lowell and Providence. Leaman and Bazin are the two coaches I respect most in Hockey East because they've built great programs without stars. Lowell's top two scorers this year only had 23 and 20 points. Leaman had some firepower this year but this was his worst season in recent memory. Both of those coaches have brought in players who play their system and that's why they have sustained success.

You can't ignore Madigan and Carvel over the last few seasons but I think their models are not practical at Maine. Maine doesn't have the bells and whistles of the Mass schools and that's okay. I also don't see Northeastern or UMass sustaining the success they've had. We're not going to attract first round draft picks and we're not going to get grad transfers, but the programs that are relying on that kind of talent can be very risky as we've seen with BU and BC. BU and BC have had great talent over the past couple of years but neither have truly competed on the national stage.

Our goal should be to find 4 year guys who play a good all around game. Maine is still the only school in hockey east where the hockey players are the top athletes on campus, they're the hottest ticket in town and the fans truly care. This should be the message to recruits. We're not going to top schools academically, we're not going to top them with facilities but we can top them with environment and passion.

Working from home this week but projects are few and far between with all our casinos shut down, so I have some down time to mess around, which lead to this mockup. We can dream right?

                  This seems less than ideal.

Well on s different note: Today would have been Maine Baseball home opener versus UML....would have been a decent day in the stands...for the 30 or so regulars

Yes. You might have seen me there. We used to catch an occasional game, only on nice days.

If and when Covid-19 is away from us all...when we do start up(hopefully in October?)..JSS will be called upon to score goals for a team that goal scoring maybe scarce.

Doherty is officially gone. Off to Penn State for next season.

Tough loss for the team and the community. I guess you can say it was expected, but it's tough to see a guy pass up on another year at Maine to play somewhere else.
