For me this is just a meaningless game that unfortunately someone can get injured playing. i would like to see it replaced with some other game of more interest. Will not be listening or watching tonight and probably will not even find out about the final score until tomorrow. In any case, go RED!!! If you have to play, at least win this one!

It is going to be very quiet here tonight, as I also will not be here for the game.
I will try to check in to catch a score late..

It's no more meaningless than any other OOC game we play. In theory it attracts interest in the CD to the two teams.

Except they we have already played them twice this season (and could possibly have to play them 2 or 3 times in the ECAC playoffs also) and that the game tends to be, shall we say, a bit more testy than most and filled with cheap shots. Would rather play another OOC team, any team, but possibly at home.

And have been since odds were first posted. Most likely score is 2-1 and a 54% to 33% favorite. With only one game this weekend, some boys could be rested for a bigger weekend coming up with a league opponent Dartmouth and Freakout with Vermont. Chance to play some that have not gotten much ice time. Perhaps a chance for coach to tinker with the power play that has not been as effective lately as it had been earlier in the season.

I would rather do that to, but getting interest in the CD is important. Brown plays PC in a similar game, granted they are not in the same league. This weekend is a tourney among the 4 Connecticut teams where Yale could play QC again.

Re: RPI vs Union, Mayor's Cup, 1/25/20

There was a post on the Union thread earlier this week noting that the Dutchmen, with 42 goals scored in 25 games, had a goals-per-game average of 1.68, tied with Brown for 59th among the 61 Division I hockey teams. Only Vermont, at 1.62, was worse. (Actually, if you carry it out one more decimal place, Brown had 1.684 compared to Union's 1.680, so Union was in 60th place.)

After UVM rang up five goals against Merrimack last night, their goals-per-game is now 1.77, putting Union all the way down in last place.

I don't know whether RPI's goalie tonight, whoever he may be, will take comfort from this statistic or will feel like the pressure is really on him not to be the guy Union busts out against.

Good preparation for the playoffs to play in a trophy game, same as how tournaments are (or at least used to be) desirable. That way, when it's do-or-die, you're more prepared.

The women lost their edition of the Mayor's Cup 2-0 to Union (second goal ENG).
