It's not uncommon but making and receiving passes is just harder on the off side and some aren't as comfortable or adept there. The development of the one-timer has certainly made it more common as many PP units will have the points on their off sides in all zones or even their natural side on defense and switch once they get into the offensive zone.

I watched 3 games of Schreifels and I was really surprised. He was a different player than I thought he would be.

          - Smooth stick handles, really good hands
          - Fast, crisp passes
          - Always looking to get up the ice on the breakout so that he is skating through the neutral zone with speed
          - Good skater, shows impressive speed for size
          - Great finishing ability, good shot
          - Was on the PP usually at the point, occasionally on the wing, never at center
          - Not on the PK
          - Only 12-19 in the faceoff dot by my count. It's a small sample size, but his technique did not seem to be that good. I also noticed that he very rarely took draws in the defensive zone, and sometimes his linemates would take faceoffs instead. I do not know if he was just on the wing for those shifts, or if it was just to avoid having him take the faceoff.
          - Strong with defensive stick work (stick checks and stick lifts)
          - Poor defensive awareness, did not seem to be going to right spots and looked like he was chasing the puck often
          - Not a standout in his own end overall, I'd say he's below average there between his faceoffs, awareness and stick work
          - Played some on the wing too

Overall, I came away very impressed with his offensive skills and potential but disappointed by his defense. His skill set is tantalizing for a team that will need to replace scoring, but he needs work on his defensive game. I think he needs to and will move to the wing. His game just doesn't fit as a center where winning faceoffs and being strong in your own end is extremely important. I think he would fit way better on the wing where he can use his offensive skills to impact games while not needing to be as steady in the D-zone.

Thanks for the analysis. I hope he's been given the message to work on being a three zone player because it's clear that Dave Smith is building from the back forward. Ice time may be hard to come by for a player perceived as a defensive liability. Perhaps that will change a bit if we start winning regularly and can bring in a 30-40 point guy once in a while (and in this more defensive oriented era there aren't as many of those guys as we saw 15+ years ago) that can be a little looser with his defensive responsibilities, but I don't see that guy on the horizon so the disciplined style we saw this season is likely to remain. The good news for a guy with speed is that style can generate a lot of breakaways, just ask two of my favorite players, Mike Gornall and Jake Morrello. Hopefully, however, Henri has a few more finishing skills.

He did pick up his scoring after he committed, while often it seems the other way around. I can't comment on his defensive prowess.

From what I saw, Henri can definitely score and finish. He had a well-rounded offensive skill set

The years the men's recruits are listed as committed for are not necessarily accurate.
The dates on which some of the women are listed as committing on may be considerably after the actual dates.
I am assuming that Neutral Zone regards their Star ratings as public because they often tweet them with committals.

STRENGTHS according to Neutral Zone (NZ doesn't include them for women and goalies):
                              Aw=Awareness/IQ, Ch= Character/Leadership, GS=Goal Scoring Ability, Sk=Skating, Sp=Speed, SH=Stick Handling Skill,
                              St-Strength, To=Toughness, Vi=Vision/Passing

Neutral Zone has raised him from 4.00 to 4.25. I hope that his brother can convince him to go to RPI.
