Arrest the people who aren't showing up for the subpoenas, to start with. Heck, I bet there is some loophole in the law somewhere that would allow FBI/CIA/Homeland to arrest people (and possibly charge them within the appropriate timeframe) because of their work with foreign entities. Basically, ANYTHING like that.

What it comes down to, is that what has been traditionally "the way things are done" isn't working. So let's dig into all the fine print of the laws, and think of a different way.

Two things: First of all, I suspect the Dems on the hill, who are in the business of using the fine print in the law to accomplish their ends, would say those are naive comments, particularly when the Senate makes the procedural rules for the impeachment trial.

Second, any attempt to compel attendance of witnesses within the executive branch will ultimately end up you-know-where (if the witness' testimony is likely to support removal). Dems will go this route when they have to or when they think it will play well politically, but we all know how the Supremes are going to come down on questions of executive power and protection, even when the issue is congressional power to subpoena witnesses at an impeachment hearing.

Bottom line: Dems need to figure out how to politically outmaneuver the Rs when these issues arise. We knew all this was likely to happen, which is why Pelosi was so guarded about heading down this path.

I agree with this. Now, once the ball is rolling...let's keep it rolling. There's got to be a way to keep it rolling.

Yes, let's keep it rolling so the Rs can get a quick acquittal after a kangaroo court and trump can claim exoneration.

            That sounds swell.

And you've obviously not read anything I've previously posted on this. Have a good day.

Maybe you should talk to Mitch McConnell. There’s about 5,000 pages of new laws waiting on the senate to take them up.

And, AGAIN, I say the Ds should be going balls out hard core to find something to make the Rs not be jack-bags to keep this impeachment rolling.

And now I'll cue up about a dozen posts from some around here saying that's the same as saying "both sides," which it isn't. One side is doing much worse things than the other. Hint: orange

Oh. Now I get it. The Dems have to figure out how to make Turtle Boy play nice with them in the sandbox. And, that will fix everything. Cause, you know, it's the Dems who really need to figure that **** out. Mitch is way too busy and important to figure out how not to act like a total dick.

Yes, they do have to. Show some teeth. Force him to not sit in a corner and give the silent treatment.

You have said MANY times yourself that the Dems need to change their ways. Here's the chance.

There is only one way to "work with" Mitch. Send him to the minority and mandate all cloture votes are 50% +1.

Who said anything about "working with Mitch"? I said go after him. Read my last post. Twice, if you have to.
