That is too bad but it is the right choice. It is becoming quite clear who has a legit shot at this thing and she isnt one of those people. Plus now she can get back to the Senate. (when she actually does quit) Booker should do the same soon he is wasting everyone's time.

My issue is this though (well, one of them anyway ): I was hoping somebody would cut into Zombie Joe Biden's support amongst the AA population in delegate rich Southern states on Super Tuesday. Some natural heirs to that group's support could have been O'Rourke (won heavily Hispanic district, from the South) or Harris. With them both out of the way, and my preferred candidate Lizzy Warren not yet making those connections, Zombie Joe is going to win those votes by default. Its all well and good if he loses IA and NH, but if he then turns around and wins NV (with an assist from Harry Reid's machine) and then South Carolina, his Undead campaign is going to shuffle on and accumulate delegates unless he has a complete meltdown.

I don't think we can project as much from the early primaries to Super Tuesday as we used to be able to. Campaign coverage used to be completely about primary results, so there was a domino effect. But there is so much more coverage, now, and so much greater granularity, that by the Friday after a primary 3 other stories will have knocked the result off the screen.

That self-fulfilling prophesy stuff may just not be operative anymore.

Tom Perez was on POTUS this morning and was excellent. He's got a good political mind and he's not falling into the old traps that plagued us under prior leadership. I'm happy with him as the DNC lead.

Whoever the Dem nominee is, they need to get every college kid who has turned or will turn 18 before next November registered and to the polls. It was a good strategy for Elise Slotkin - without East Lansing, Mike Bishop would still be my rep.

I hope to god you’re right. I’ve not seen enough yet to agree he was the right choice

I have a little inside info on him. Dr. Mrs. knows him socially and has talked politics with him going way back. She has always been very impressed with him. When he lets his hair down he truly knows the score. Some of his awkwardness early on was just the natural settling in of a nerdy, numbers, policy guy in a grip-and-grin business dummy role. But at the draftsman's table he's always been excellent. He also had a ton of damage to repair after the predations of the prior regime. They ran things for themselves, not the party (I'm sure you find this shocking, I know).

I think this is the end of this role for him -- he doesn't really enjoy it and he basically got drafted into it because everybody was so angry with each other and he was the only person both sides respected. He thinks he's more effective overall as a field commander but really I dunno. The figurehead job is tough, especially now with so many rifts, and the fact that he's managed to hold sh-t together and get people to actually talk to each other is a rave review in these times.

There was a nice story this morning on XM Progress about a 17-year old who has been working her tail off registering hundreds of people. She won't be old enough to vote and when the interviewer asked her why she was working so hard she said, "I still have to live here!"

We need an army of these people. Get all the smart kids involved when they are still young and energetic and have hope before the idiocy of wage slavery reduces them to lowing right wing cattle. The only thing stopping us from making this country better is our own cautiousness. The Founders gave us all the tools. Learn them. Use them. We have it in our power to dominate the 1% instead of vice versa. There wouldn't be a Republican in office in this country if we all worked as hard as that girl.

Did you see the story a few weeks ago about republican efforts to stop college kids from voting? It’s not a surprise but I’m still disgusted

They always do this. They can't win if they don't cheat.

Of course. They'll do anything, and their fellow brownshirts appointed to the bench let them do it.

It's amazing to me how many Trumpies have dug their heels in and especially so since the impeachment talk started gaining speed. I honestly thought even a smidge would pay attention to content rather than sources and finally see the light. They really think it's a witch hunt and the only reason it's happening is become Democrats, "haven't accepted the 2016 elections results".

It's also very interesting how with the Mueller report they are now investigating the "origins" of the investigation into Trump. And, now they're obsessed with the "whistle blower" which appears to be the origins of the Ukraine Story. Both times the evidence was overwhelming, and yet they're butthurt over it being found out about in the first place.
