Re: Utica College hockey. ..Can we catch a break this season?
Hmm, NU has Hobart a top 5 ranked PW team in the finals. NU is 6-0 against top 20 PW teams. I suspect NU jumps back over UC for #1 in PW going into
NCAA's. For anyone wishing to play NU over Genny, guessing you don't follow D3 hockey?

I did last season @ Point and the Norwich D limited Geneseo to two goals and won 4 - 2.
Very entertaining game from two teams with differing style of play.

I've never seen NU play.
Do they trap?
Maybe they can't trap Genny or Utica, or maybe they can.

I have seen Norwich play many times in FF competition, including one year when they played @ the CCC.
No, they do not trap, like a River Falls is known to do, but have a very skilled team, their PK in the game vs. Geneseo was deadly, very opportunistic team and they are rock solid in the net.

Correct, they don't trap - they do take away time and space from the opposition and force everything to the outside. The defense is designed to set up counterattacks, not to clog.

Was a frustrating game. Geneseo had plenty of chances in the first but couldn't score. Norwich was opportunistic in the 2nd and capitalized. Geneseo made it a game again in the 3rd but it was too little too late. It's amazing that Geneseo and Norwich never played each other before a few seasons ago but hopefully they can keep building a good NCAA rivalry and maybe even schedule some regular season tilts.

I'd love to see Norwich go through a rotation of opening the season over six years rotating home and homes with Geneseo, Oswego and Utica. Be awesome for both fan bases and great early season tests for each team.
Re: Utica College hockey. ..Can we catch a break this season?
X2 NUProf - Norwich is a speed team, play great two way hockey. Guys that don't play both ways wear suits an ask why I am a senior and not playing tonight.
NU does not get involved in rough play its not there game. NU has exceptional PP an PK units.
