As I just noted in our thread, Robinson is dressed but did not warm up. You’ll see Taylor in net. Good luck tonight gentlemen, just not too much. 😉

    • UNH having a strong night through 2 periods.
We gotta stay out of the box having given them 2 PP goals. Not Pantano’s best effort; but he needs the offense to help some as well.

Wildcats were due... law of averages.

we could’ve used a bit of Thiessen last night.
Kid that scored in OT for UNH, that was his first G of the season I believe.
We were playing catch up all night.
Good for the Wildcats. Our upperclassmen need to step up tail end here if team is to have a shot at post season.

Oh & all the best to Brad 😊

            Best to Thiessen,

Too much catchup last night, too many penalties on us (some of them legit)

Gotta keep reminding ourselves, this was supposed to be down yr. So the fact we are talking (asking) them to get to post season... and the Ws they do have; i suppose not all bad. I had them pegged at .500 team this yr & they certainly have shown sparks of over acheiving, even winning some holiday hardware.
Then as a fan you get excited and ask for the moon. Fact is, they have a lot of young players; it is a rebuild and if they can surprise toward Feb & March, great. If not - was going to be that type of season. UConn Saturday - game at a time; reset, let's go!

Anyone know what the deal is with Beanpot timing? Looked the other day and saw they’re playing the early game. Am I wrong that the defending champ usually plays the late game?

It helps that the defending champ is usually BC or BU. With NU and Harvard combining to win 3 in a row, this was due to happen at some point.

I believe that the defending champ gets their choice of times. Jack Grinold taught us to love the early game, as it got complete coverage from the media .

Changing topics a bit, this kid was once a NU commit... ultimately landed at UNH.
Tough decision for any hockey player; but seems its a personal decision & he's doing right for himself.
                      Wishing him the best!

AFAIK, there is no hard and fast rule about which teams get the early draw and which get the late game. Obviously, the organizers (i.e., TD Garden) want to sell as many tickets as possible and Harvard hasn't drawn significant crowds since the heyday of the Billy Cleary era. So I think Harvard would get the early game no matter which of the other three is the opponent.

First things first: Allowing the Fake Huskies 44 SOG is beyond the pale. Defense just couldn't seem to get untracked. Ever since the Colgate game in Belfast, they've shown a tendency to get pinned in their own end for long periods. That needs to get fixed.

That being said, a couple of brutal whistles that shouldn't have been:

--Jack Millea killing play with the puck loose and Vomacka 14 feet out of his net
--Phony offside with NU on an odd-man rush late in regulation

But really, this team should never have let itself get into a position where fake whistles even mattered.

As a former referee, who watches the refs almost as much as you watch the players, what kind of inconsistency has occurred when 8 penalties are called in the first period and none in the second and third periods? Then a call is made in OT, which seemed weak, leading to the final powerplay. If the refs had a game plan of their own, they executed better than either of the teams!

The holding penalty on bucheler (which resulted in ot goal) was bs!
I actually thought he played it textbook. Don't know what the ref saw except for the uconn player running out of space as he was angled & falling on his own into our net so as not to run pantano over. he sold it pretty well looking up at the ref from the netting. weak, weak call but kid had scored 2 goals on us so there's that.

hopefully these things balance out over the season (they seem to) & i am hoping we get a few breaks the other way as well.

in the meanwhile, doesn't take away the sting. we certainly had our chances - didn't get the bounces to put it away in regulation and then ot happened.
