Looks like the loss was not a killer in the Pairwise, as RIT is now #7.

Yes, it's still early, but it's a lot harder for an Atlantic Hockey team to move up than it is to go down. Fortunately, Holy Cross has had some OOC success as well to minimize those damages.

It's not a loss. It's a tie in the PWR.

True. I should have put the word loss in quotes since it is a tie there. The important thing is that not much damage was done to RIT in the PWR after the non-win.

Well, despite struggling against Holy Cross, RIT is getting even more votes in the poll and is now the first team among "others receiving votes".

A win and a shootout loss is struggling against a team that has played well in OOC as well. I'll take it. The more important number is the 7 in the PWR.

You could make a very strong argument that RIT should be ranked, frankly.

Only loss to the #9 team in the country (Ohio State), and their tie was to a team that beat the #11 ranked team as well as tied the #13th ranked team in the country in single games, and RIT went 1-0-1 against them.

They also defeated the #17 team in the country in Bowling Green.

In the long run it's nice that perception doesn't matter in college hockey, obviously, but it would be nice to get the recognition for an outstanding start. Tough weekend series coming up against Niagara. Hopefully they can exact some revenge for the playoff loss last year.

                6-1-1 is a hell of a record!
Invincible? Who thought that? Going into this weekend I would imagine many of us were wondering when the other shoe would drop. Getting out-shot 80-22 for a series is hardly the makings of "invincible". Your goalie can't do that every week, certainly.
Can't we all just get along?

The win was nice, but we struggled until that flurry of goals in the third. And we gave up an early two-goal lead in the second game. And all this to a team that isn't getting any votes at all.

I would also argue that the PWR is shiny but completely meaningless at this point in the season.

Will Calverley and Adam Brubacher are among this week's Atlantic Hockey players of the week: https://atlantichockeyonline.com/new...ly-awards.aspx

Technically true, but I think for an Atlantic Hockey team, staying high in the PWR is important for a potential at large berth.

The key word is staying. Because it is so early in the season, the PWR numbers actually don't mean much at all. Some teams will stay near the top when things start to shake out, but some won't, and it's not necessarily due to factors within their control.
And that's not to say RIT can't or won't remain in contention, but it will be a challenge. The four remaining OOC games will be critical, for sure. They still have to win the majority of conference games, but the AHA wins once again won't help all that much in PWR, although possibly a bit more than they have in the past.
Can't we all just get along?
