  • Re: Colgate 2019-20

Was worried that we might lose badly last night, we played a solid game overall. Q-Pac is definitely a top four ECAC team now. We are so improved from last year, things are moving in the right direction. Barring a complete collapse it looks like we'll have a playoff series in Hamilton next month.

Cornell is good but I think we battle them very competively next weekend.
It all starts with the goaltending.

I thought last night was pretty even-stephen. Qpac kept us out of the middle, and along the boards; good to see we are using the cross ice pass more. Gotta be on the ball the first and last 2 minutes of every period; giving up a goal in the first 17 seconds was a bummer. Ithaca State may be in somewhat of a quandary next weekend...maybe we can catch them off guard. Would be satisfied with 2 pts.

It's usually a "throw out the records" weekend. Given that we just had our as-ses handed to us by Q it's going to be a very hard week of practices for our players. I'm not sure what you'll see from us. I hope it's good. I expect two one-goal games.

Okay, who on here will be attending this weekend’s game(s) and which team do you predict will win each game?

          Friday, will attend, Cornell win.
          Saturday, will attend, Cornell win.

I have seen Cornell 3x in-person this season (loss @Dartmouth, tie vs. Northern Michigan, win vs. Northern Michigan) and I just think they are realistically far superior to Colgate this year. Having said that, I will be at both games cheering on Colgate and hoping to witness two upsets (as anything can happen on any given night, as I have been reminded on here on numerous occasions).

IBT - I will be streaming the game on Friday night and will be at Riggs Saturday night. I think we "steal" one (at Cornell). My thoughts turn to our freshmen on their first experience at Cornell. Looking forward to two great games!!! Go 'Gate!

              5-23-7.

That is our record against Cornell going back to the 2004-05 season.

We were taught that Cornell was our main rival in sports as students. The students pack the rink and give it a real "home ice advantage" whenever Cornell visits, yet we've only won there 3 times in the last 15 years. It's very frustrating. No wonder there's no energy and excitement at other home hockey games!

Last year we stole a win in Ithaca, but they've yet to lose at Riggs Rink. While we're a better team this year, I still think there's a talent gap between these two teams. But I'll be rooting for us.

will be at both games and will not pick against us (may be a bit superstitious).....first off, we have played well at Lynah in recent history i forget what class but one class recently (i think the spinks) went undefeated there, but only had one win, so "played well" is relative. Secondly, we are at home on night two....if we steal a win there we sweep at home

I may have rose colored glasses on

The class of '15 was 1-0-3 at Lynah (the "G" column).

Who of us posters will be at Riggs on Saturday night? Will Kepler be here? It would be great to connect somewhere in the rink between periods. Anyone game?

Also - I read on the team's Instagram page that tonight's game is the "Courage Classic". Is our ROAD game with Cornell every year called this? Why doesn't our home game with the Red get any love?

Schools are closed in Watkins Glen, Ithaca and Owego, I believe. Roads down here (Owego) are bad right now. If anyone hears anything about Ithaca, Cornell, Lynah, etc., this afternoon, please post here. I will leave early (3-ish) from Owego for the 26-mile drive there.

This season marks the sixth time Colgate has connected with Cornell for the Courage Classic, where the two teams honor children who have been battling cancer. Several will serve as honorary coaches for Colgate on Friday night at Lynah Rink to participate in a ceremonial puck drop before the game.

The families joined the team for pizza in the Tighe P. Sullivan '83 Suite and were presented with autographed jerseys. The Courage Classic and its participants help benefit and spread the word of Camp Good Days.

Based in Mendon, N.Y., Camp Good Days has developed into the largest organization of its kind, serving more than 48,000 campers from all 50 states and all over the world since its inception. The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and families whose lives have been touched by cancer and other life-threatening challenges.
