        Bryant Gumbel's closing monologue on his HBO show, Real Sports, was terrific this month. To paraphrase, while Rob Manfred lacked the guts to act, and the mob mentality of cancellation culture is never ideal, they both did baseball fans a huge solid in that from this day forward, every baseball fans understands the Astros didn't win the 2017 World Series and the players accomplishment's that season are worthy only of derision.
        That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.
