  • Re: MLB 2019 and Beyond: Something Something Three True Outcomes....

My wife and I were in Vegas a couple weekends back for the Fortress Tournament since Cornell was there. We were in the MGM Signature so we walked a lot through the MGM Grand to get to other places. They had a kiosk where Pete Rose was signing autographs. Note this wasn't on the actual casino floor, this way waaaaay off of it where there were just a couple gift shops and a some fast food spots. Like, one of the very empty parts of the whole complex. And they still had a guy out in the walkway trying to get people to (I'm assuming) pay for autographs and I didn't see anyone in there the whole weekend. But that's what happened when you violate the basic integrity of the sport.

      IMO, the ban stays.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

        3. He knew that betting on his own team was against the rules, and what the punishment was for violating such rule. This punishment was long since established.
        4. He also did it as a player (500+ AB in 1985, a year in which there is concrete evidence that he bet, and he does not dispute this)
        5. He only bet on his own team? His debt to his bookies was 6 figures deep in the mid-80's. I'll give you one good guess as to how he paid them back.

When kookier was there many moons ago Pete was at a collectible shop in the caesars mall sitting there. Moodiest stopped to chat while looking around. Nice enough guy.

These Twins-Dodgers and Red Sox-Dodgers trades are getting a lot larger than before.

Now Twins are getting: Maeda, $10m, minor leaguer

They're also giving up more than Graterol. Oh well, doesn't seem like a bad deal. Dodgers clearly didn't give a crap that he'll end up a reliever.

Big playoff change being batted around, possibly for 2022.

Seven teams per league - the three division winners plus four wild cards. Team with the best record gets a bye past the wild card round.

The real fun part? Second best record gets to choose its wild card opponent between #5 through #7, then #3 gets their pick after that, then #4 gets whoever's left.
