Parts 2 through 6 in the coming weeks.
          Part 2 is up.

The part about Niehaus is spot on. When I lived in Tacoma I lived with my Uncle and I remember my Uncle would turn on the radio whenever the Mariners loaded the bases just in case.

Edgar’s Grand Salami in 95 is just a great call.

I have to be the only Mariners fan who never liked Niehaus. He made it feel like we were watching A ball in Iowa. The down home stuff was really cloying.

I'll have to watch the series. I really loved the Mariners (and Seahawks) in their first 3 seasons, and I think when I was 14 I may have been the most knowledgeable Mariners fan east of the Hudson. Or the Mississippi. Or the Snake.

In 1977 my dad took me to my first Mariners game at Yankee Stadium and we got lost in the South Bronx. That was an adventure.

Apparently Bob Stinson hit the homerun. In my 43-year ancient memories, it was Ruppert Jones, who I idolized.

You’ve established plenty of times on this forum that you have bad taste, I don’t know why you insist on continuing to do so.

I knew you wouldn't care for that.

To be fair I know I'm objectively wrong about Niehaus. I just didn't personally like his style. But I consider him to be an all time great announcer. (I never liked Mel Allen either and he's probably the best announcer of all time.)

I have great early memories of listening to over the air radio (opponent) broadcasts of Seattle when they played in Boston and Baltimore. I recall the games starting at 11 but that's probably not right since it would be 8 pm local time, so maybe I was just staying up to 11. The AM signals actually were strong enough to come in except the band in the region area is so packed they were constantly being cut out and in by wavering competing signals from the city and mysterious places like New Haven and Trenton.

Lost it at the bit about Buhner making the entire outfield including Griffey Jr. puke on cue.

Out of curiosity, would you rather have won in '73 and lost in '86 to Boston?

Mookie has watched a couple of those highlight recaps today.

With ESPN and 24/7 sports these are not something needed nowadays. But are quite enjoyable.

In case you’ve missed it, MLB is proposing playing at least the beginning, if not all, of the season in Arizona at spring training sites. Lots of restrictions on travel and who’s allowed at games and all that.

Doesn’t sound like everyone’s on board:
Go Green! Go White! Go State!

                                1966, 1986, 2007

Go Tigers, Go Packers, Go Red Wings, Go Pistons
