I don't think many people picked MSU to lose to St. Cloud.

If by "many" you meant "zero," you're correct.

Amazing how that works. I would have thought SOMEBODY would have taken a flier.

Week 12 results are in with Critical Thinker taking the holiday season pick 'em honors with a score of 24 points. mbenecke stays atop the leader board while puckdude40 holds a one-game lead in the race for the Mason Cup. While I'm thinking of it, here are the top 10 in pick percentage (no bonus points included):

            Code:
            Contestant	Pick %
            puckdude40	0.669
            mbenecke	0.664
            MTUHuskyGold	0.659
            sonofcrossjcek	0.658
            MavHockey14	0.656
            BGFan 0.655
            Stauber1	0.654
            MissThundercat	0.654
            Hatch_man	0.649
            IceKnight81	0.646
Playoff announcement coming up so stay tuned.

Iceknight81 seems like a stand up competitor so I’ll concede the 10th place ribbon for the Mason..... a participation ribbon will look equally good on my mantle 😁

There were a lot of good scores this week but only one winner -- NHBEAVERFAN took the weekly honors with a high score of 33. This weekend's Big BG Bust has compressed the top of the standings with MTUHuskyGold now trailing mbenecke by only 1 point. Week 14 is a big weekend for points as there is a full slate of games plus a bonus. You don't want to miss this one. Reminder there is a Thursday game this week. The bonus will remain open until puck drop on Friday as the Thursday game won't have a material affect on the results so if you're late in getting picks in you're still good for the bonus.

                          2019-2020 WCHA Pick 'Em Playoffs
Now that we’re into the second half of the season it’s time to start thinking about bringin' home the hardware. As mentioned at the beginning of the season there are 3 awards:
o MacNaughton Cup - Goes to the regular season champion as determined by total points
o Mason Cup - Goes to the player with the highest points percentage (based solely on picks, no bonus) during the regular season
o Jeff Sauer Trophy - Goes to the playoff champion

Unlike other contests, the WCHA Pick ‘Em playoffs adopt a single elimination format where players go head-to-head in each round with the winner advancing. Here are the details.

                          Playoff Seeding
Due to the ever expanding popularity of the WCHA Pick ‘Em contest, this year the top 36 players will make the playoffs. Matches are head-to-head, single elimination with snake seeding for bracket pairings (1 vs. 36, 2 vs. 35, etc.). Seeding and tie breakers are determined in the following manner based on regular season results:
                          1) Total Points (including bonus)
                          2) Points (excluding bonus)
                          3) Total Points earned during the final 2 (or 3, or 4, or…) weeks of the WCHA regular season including bonuses until the tie is broken. Basically the “hotter” player down the stretch is favored.

                          Play-In Matches and Alternates
With the field expanding to 36, the top seeds in each of the four regions will receive a first round bye. Their opponent will be the winner of a play-in match with 4 other contestants taking place in the first round. Seeds 21-36 are eligible for each of the four play-in matches. Note that this affects the seeding for the other matches but I think it'll still work out.

Players that are outside of the top 36 will be considered alternates in the case that a playoff eligible contestant is unable to participate. Alternates will assume the playoff spot of the contestant they are replacing on a 1-for-1 basis (meaning I’m not going to reseed the entire field at the last second because someone didn’t get their picks in on time).

                          Playoff Rounds
o First round will be based on the Friday, March 6 WCHA Quarterfinal playoff games with bonuses (4 games total, field reduced from 36 to 16).
o Second round will be based on the Saturday, March 7 WCHA Quarterfinal playoff games with bonuses (4 games total, field reduced from 16 to 8)
o Quarterfinals will be based on the Friday, March 13 WCHA Semifinal playoff games with bonuses (2 games total, field reduced from 8 to 4).
o Semifinals will be based on the Saturday, March 14 WCHA Semifinal playoff games with bonuses (2 games total, field reduced from 4 to 2).
o The championship matchup will be based on the WCHA Championship game on March 21 plus bonuses.

                          Scoring
o Same as the regular season other than games won’t end in a tie so 3 pts for a win, 0 pts for a loss.
o 2-3 bonus questions for each round worth 1-5 points.
o In all cases ties go to the higher seed.

                          Good luck!

Based on who plays regularly, looks like either 3 or 4. Though last year we needed an alternate so it's tough to say.

It was a big week for mbenecke who won the week with 35 out of 39 points and also tied for the bonus. He extends his lead for the MacNaughton to 6 over MTUHuskyGold and 17 over puckdude40. There were 85 assists this weekend; here's how the bonus scoring went:
                                Code:
                                Contestant Points
                                Icd80 9
                                mbenecke 9
                                crossjcek 8
                                Hatch_man 8
                                Laker Dude 8
                                Scrum Bucket 8
                                MTUHuskyGold 7
                                Wi.HuskiesFan 6
                                Soulbeaver 5
                                geezer 3
                                IceKnight81 3
                                puckdude40 3
                                mikeeddy19 2
                                MSUMaverickFan 1
                                TalonsUpPuckDown	1
In the race for the Mason Cup, sonofcrosscheck hangs on to a slender one-game lead over puckdude40.

There are 226 points available the rest of the year (assuming no ties) and a bonus every week. Plenty of opportunities to make the playoffs.
