My stepfather fancies himself as a gatekeeper Christian, and likes telling other denominations they're heretics. Recently, he's been complaining about the Episcopalians. Today, I flat out asked him why he tagged along with me if he hates the denomination so much. He said because he had no other way to get to church. Par for the course with him.

Since the Jehovah's Witnesses can't go door to door now, they're sending out letters. Today, I got one addressed to my dead name, and it hit a few "end of the world" conspiracy places on my bingo card

God causes a global pandemic that slaughters 75,000 Americans and counting.

Satan puts questionable messages in rock and roll albums when you play them backwards.

Thinking it's not so much a deity as it is a set of guiding principles I believe in:

                    1. It's not enough to be compassionate. I must act.
                    2. Everything eventually works to my benefit, even if I don't see it right away.
                    3. Even if I don't want to do it, get up and try.
                    4. I am alive, therefore I have hope.
                    5. The life you live is the legacy you leave. What's your legacy?
                    6. I got two hands, one beating heart, and I'll be alright.

                      Welp.

Popham believes that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the infectious disease expert on the administration’s coronavirus task force, is part of the “deep state” along with Bill Gates, another prominent villain of coronavirus conspiracy theorists. She believes their interest in developing a coronavirus vaccine is “driven by money” as well as “a socialist agenda” designed to “get control of us.” Based on research she’s done online, Popham thinks it’s likely that the vaccine will include some sort of human tracking device.

“It will keep track of us,” she said. “Kind of like in the end days, as the Bible says, you’ll be numbered.”

Popham, who described herself as a lifelong Republican, said that while her beliefs about the coronavirus vaccine “have a lot to do with my political views,” they also “go along with my faith.”

From earlier in the month. I forget. Religious liberty only applies to them, doesn't it. If I denied them service based on my religious liberty, I'd be fired and sued into oblivion.

In case you really want to know why I'm not bothered about the mask policy and only slightly bothered about not being held right now... I've been praying this a lot. Especially the second part.
God, give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
                              Courage to change the things
                              which should be changed,
                              and the Wisdom to distinguish
                              the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
                              Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
                              Amen.

There's a woman here in Holland, MI who says God told her to reopen her salon, despite receiving the necessary funds to stay closed during Pandemic 2020. The locals (Dutch conservatives) are lapping it up and it's generated a small media circus.

So basically, it's nice to know Fundies use God as an excuse to do whatever the F they want.
