Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers V: Bye Felicia

If the turnout of the blue areas was super depressed for some reason it could theoretically happen (while simultaneously the red areas are super excited about their guy) but it’d also probably mean that the election was a Nixon-esque sweep. There’s no way MN turns red but somehow the swing states and other purple states also didn’t all go red as well.

Again. It has NOTHING to do with what I believe. I am just reporting the things I hear. If that's of no interest to anyone then fine, I'll refrain from reporting it.
I am sure the GOP is motivated, they should be. And the Phillips campaign should pay attention to that but so what? It isnt like if Phillips loses (which I dont think he will but either way) that means Trump somehow has a better chance. Paulsen won it in 2016 and Trump still lost Minnesota. (the District went for Clinton though and Obama twice so it isnt like they go Red in Nationals always) You seem to be conflating local politics with national results which you do a lot.

Phillips may lose...but that will be because that had been a Republican stronghold since the 60s so he is an outlier. It wont show a trend for Trump it will show a regression back to normalcy.

Let them worry about that, when it comes to Trump I will worry when he isnt losing to every major candidate here and his approval rating isnt hovering around 40%. And IMO I would bet if the election was held tomorrow he wouldnt finish within 10% of any of the leaders. That is gut feeling only based on his bad numbers and I think some of the people who voted for him will abstain right now. (none of the hardline GOPers but the ones who voted Anti-Clinton) His trolling Omar is the big key though. Keeping Minneapolis motivated is the last thing he wants ESPECIALLY District 5. If District 5 comes out en masse they will call Minnesota fast and early.

And like Ticap said I think they’re just trying to manufacture a narrative/distraction rather than actually thinking it’s truly in play.

Already tired of the media saying Kamala agreed with someone who said Trump was mentally ********. That is incorrect. She agreed with someone who called his *actions* mentally ********. There IS a difference (still bad, but still a big difference).

Really? The "r" word is censored? Wow.

I find it funny, because now you can't say (uncensored) "a ******** economy." Which is completely non-offensive.

I mean, that's why it is censored. Any word that sets off Google Adsense gets censored.

Edit: that's still good to go. Which is hilarious.

Not fun watching Bill Maher on MSNBC this morning call Elizabeth Warren "too scary" to be elected.

To be fair, she's pretty scary. I mean, look at her! She's a monster!

It's the whole socialism thing. I wonder how much traction that actually has with the centrists. Especially since everyone who is scared by it is stupid and doesn't understand the meaning of the term or the fact that it is being used entirely out of context.

I'd guess almost the entire population under the age of 40 who is reflexively frightened by "socialism" didn't go to college (at least, real college) and is already solid straight ticket red.

We are going to have to get used to a new reality: we don't have to tiptoe around the morons anymore. Once they were evenly distributed between both parties so scaring them was death. But now they have all migrated to their natural home on the Right. The Left can start pitching policies based on what works and what is ethical, not what won't disturb the prejudices and superstitions of the Morlocks.

The Right is stuck with them. We are free to govern according to reason, for the first time in American history.

Older Lefties (myself included) will never really absorb this fully. We were trained from birth, or at least from the first day of Kindergarten, to lay low and be careful of the dummies: quick to judge, quick to anger, slow to understand. We knew that to be smart was to be the target of violence and to be kind was to be the target of mockery, and we knew the world was full of apes. We knew not to challenge the morons' conceptions of morality, theology, or economics because they would respond with their only brains: their fists. And we knew not to run on intelligent ideas and solutions in public because the dummies would become confused if not outright enraged.

But that is passing away. The Boomers are the last generation with a significant portion of dummies on the Left and a few straggler smarties on the Right. From Gen X on the electorate's mitosis is complete. We can run on intellect and not lose by it.

                            It's childhood's end.

Unfortunately, it's not being corrected either, perpetuating the myth.

This is *exactly* how the definition of "litterally" eroded to included both actual AND figurative in its definition.

We have two ways we can go after 2016 as Democrats. Get even "safer" and go with the old white guy whose policies are no different from Hillary but he's at least white, male, and hasn't been vilified by the other side. Or, go bold and progressive.

I think we need to go bold and progressive. I don't think Biden ultimately fixes anything and just sets us up for another Republican cycle. The last thing we need is someone who thinks they can work with these clowns. The stunt the pulled in NC yesterday. The stunts that Turtle Boy has pulled. We need someone in office who is going to bring the narrative to the people and dispel all this bs the right spews on a daily basis.
