Movie 43, I made it 10 minutes in, ripped the disc out of my player and chucked it across the room.

Hey now, "Who Gets The Dog" starring Alicia Silverstone wasn't...

... okay, it was a sh** movie, and the only reason I watched it was because they filmed part of it at the minor league hockey game I was at (no, I tried to find me, but my season seats were just out of view from the camera). Also the trailer completely ignores the fact that Ryan Kwanten is a goaltender for a minor league hockey team.

Actually, I'll take issue with one "child" movie. "Secondhand Lions" was solid. Of course, it had Michael Caine AND Robert Duvall, so....

Its so cute when you judge people...especially when you are wrong so often

It isnt the lack of action...actually there is plenty of that. Its that nothing really matters. Brad Pitt shows almost no emotion half the time despite some really crazy stuff going on around him and they never really go into any aspect of the story deep enough to make you care about any of them. I mean none of the people who die have any value because Pitt's character is so bland by design you never get to connect with any of them. And despite the movie going slow the few things that do happen happen at such a fast pace it just kind of falls flat. I mean they skimp on story the whole way (and there was things to tell) to get you to the conclusion then after 5 minutes they finish it up. The final scene is supposed to be the "Oh see...here is why it all mattered!" moment but even that didnt really help because honestly you havent been given enough story or character to really care about what is happening in the scene.

I can deal with slow stories, this one felt twice as long as it was because they just left a lot of holes in the story. Would be way better as a book.

                Children Of Heaven

Films with kids that should be watched.

From the TV thread so we can keep the James Bond talk contained.

I don't know if Tennant could fit the "action movie guy" role they've made James Bond. Boy would that be an amazing pick though!

While I would love to have a more spy based movie (along the Connery ones) and less Jerry Bruckheimer explosions, the box office results of slowing the series down wouldn't help the franchise. See: The Man From U.N.C.L.E. movie. Also, I'm pretty sure we're approaching another reboot because it (unfortunately) sounds like they're trying to neatly wrap up the Craig era. That's why I liked Casino Royale so much. And Skyfall as my second favorite, those seemed more smart action without being loud/explosions (except for the big fight of Skyfall).

I've always looked at it as:
Original James Bond (same timeline): Connery -> Lazenby -> Moore -> Dalton -> Brosnan
Reboot James Bond (new timeline): Craig -> ??

(Arguments could be made that it's Connery/Lazenby, then the Moore era, then Dalton/Brosnan as three separate timelines, but that's an argument no one wants to read )

But apparently we're going to start the third era of James Bond.

For reference: a good shot of Tennant being serious, not a bad Bond pose.

I've thought of Tennant before as well he would not be at the top of my list. My starting point (in no particular order) would include him though:

                      Jude Law
                      Cillian Murphy
                      Tom Hiddleston
                      David Tennant
                      Richard Armitage
                      Benedict Cumberbatch
Clive Owen (would have to lose weight)
                      Michael Fassbender
Tom Hardy (I don't think he would do it)
                      Christian Bale

The Irishman with 100% on RT on 41 reviews.

People are raving about Pesci in particular. I highly recommend the book this movie is based on: I Heard You Paint Houses.

Above Star Wars, Joker, Terminator, The Current War, I’m more excited to see The Irishman than any movie since The Departed or The Dark Knight.
