My city HS, one of the best in the state, would routinely beat the surrounding county (poor) high schools by 60+. I distinctly remember one game that ended 77-0 where the announcer said, “Well, folks, I have no idea who just ran the football - that number is not on our roster. It may have been the water boy.”

Maybe Adam Sandler was listening to that call....
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

I can see getting suspended if you leave your starters in the whole game, but if you put in the 2nd and 3rd teamers? Are you supposed to tell them to not try?

I’m not sure where else to put this.
The meltdown on my local Next Door over the Edina school board race is beyond comical. It’s now escalated to the Star Tribune where the mayor published an op ed and a few angry people had a response published today.
In a nutshell- Minnetonka and Wayzata schools now ranked higher, Edina has lost some rich kids to private schools. Center for the American experiment, a gross right wing lobby group who hates diversity and renewable energy, has been sending all Edina residents flyers on how diversity is the cause of the schools declining.
MN GOP appears to be endorsing the 3 candidates who are not teacher union endorsed. One of those is 22 year old Kid with a famous hockey name, grandson of Famous hockey guy. He has twice said in open recorded forums he’s open to arming teachers.
There are conservatives on next door screaming about how it shouldn’t be political and that we shouldn’t judge young hockey kid on the gun issue. Heck, I’m judging the kid because his public twitter gives trump a thumbs up.
Guess I’m voting in the school board election this week!!

It's easier in hockey. Our philosophy was unless it was a rival or another prep team we stopped scoring at 9-0. When we hit nine we had a glorified practice for the rest of the game. I remember after one game the opposing coach came to us and thanked us for not running up the score. In the previous four games they had been outscored something like 70-2. The other teams had left their first line in the whole game in an effort to get them better statistics. We sat our first, and sometimes second, lines and called up JV players. Not scoring in hockey is easier than not scoring in football though. In hockey you just don't shoot. In football you'd have to take a knee or fall down on purpose.

As a general rule of thumb, it's best to avoid Next Door boards. That is, unless you're looking for confirmation that your neighbor with the American flag sticker on the back of his Silverado is, in fact, a complete Trump-humping idjut.

Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Yeah, I scour for some good for sale listings and lost dogs to help find. It’s useful for those

One can totally back off the throttle in a similar manner. It's just in the execution. First and foremost, ALL starters need to come out (rarely will a team up this big have just 25 kids). Play calling also becomes critical in the impression you leave. On offense you have 3 plays: Run Right, Run Center, Run Left. All straight hand offs. No Sweeps/Jets. Use ALL of the play clock. On Defense, bring 3 or 4 lineman. NO BLITZING. LB's play soft zone coverage/spy. DB's have little/no contact and play off. Under a running clock situation, a team can quite literally take all 12 minutes to move from their own 25 to the opposing team's 10 without "laying down". Running straight rarely gets broken for a 50+ yard run. If it does, it's not likely to be an ignition point for the losing team cause they know that they just gave up a long run on a straight handoff that ran off the center.

Yes, that might not jive with what a team's normal schemes are. They need to be able to adjust. If a team does not, they need to be aware of what can happen and that penalties don't really matter at that point. I've rarely seen that protocol turn the end of a game into a poop-show. It's doing something different that ignites things...
