So is this the meeting where the staff at hand sits down and starts figuring out how to make the new budget number? Or is this just a meeting acknowledging that they need to have more meetings to figure things out?

Time isn't their friend. I have to assume they already have a plan and the meeting is just necessary to determine how to implement it.

It's very likely that Johnsen has a plan and is running it past the Regents for final approval.

I'm not following your meaning and am unfortunately not in a place to tune in.

President Johnsen is asking the Board of Regents, which is the board that governs the University of Alaska System to declare financial exigency, which means that the University revenue does not meet the University debt load based on the vetos the Governor of Alaska has instituted at the University System.

Aha. Then it's a formal declaration to get the plan executed. I'll be curious to see what the Board requests of Johnsen in this meeting as far as specific plans.

I still don't see how Athletics at all UA system campuses survives. I want to be wrong.

So far, Athletics is not being discussed.

Ok looks like the Board of Regents wants to hold off on Financial Exigency...a motion has be initiated, and a second has been acheived...until July 30 meeting. There is discussion now.
