Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

He needs better phrasing, but he has a point. Pregnant woman takes out policy on child, takes a few punches to the stomach (or any other method that really can't be proven to be done on purpose), creates a miscarriage, collects insurance policy.

Note: I think these new abortion laws are %*)(&# ^*(&@ horrible.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

I get what you’re saying. I’m also just pointing out how dumb the law is, but you get that

It was bad to begin with, THEN they added the no exceptions thing, and THERE'S where I really lost it.

I'm in a state that is actively fighting for abortion rights, so you are correct.

Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

Very clearly, the only reason to ban all abortions at any time is religious. When the Alabama law gets challenged, if it gets as far as SCOTUS, it obviously might get upheld because of the makeup of the court, but I wouldn't be totally shocked, with such a clear-cut 1st Amendment violation, if Roberts votes to shoot it down. I don't like that guy, but once in a while, when the options between the Constitution and some totally outrageous conservative garbage, he does the right thing. Hell, Gorsuch has done the right thing regarding Native American rights once or twice; maybe he actually believes in the Constitution, too.

The best thing about mookie is he'll troll to try to own anybody.

Though, where convictions matter, this would also the worst thing.

Roberts seems to believe in the Constitution as long as it doesn't cost the .01% any money.

Gorsuch seems to believe in the Constitution as long as it doesn't cost the Republican Party any votes.

Bulls##t. These aholes can't have their cake and eat it too. If they want to declare at 6 weeks it's a life than let it be insured. Also it's a stupid argument to claim a woman is going to just let someone "punch her in the stomach" to collect.

Though it's exactly the sort of stupid, nefarious, paranoid argument a Republican would believe. These are people who believe the poor would rather live in the projects on welfare than have a living wage job. Who believe kids have sex because they can get birth control and aren't forced to pray in school.

Use that stupidity. Make them feel like somebody's getting over on them. That's the way to appeal to a conservative: make him feel victimized and taken advantage of, no matter how much of a reach it is. That's the essential core of his being.

But it’s exactly what republicans and “centrists” want to believe. Like all welfare recipients are queens who drive luxury cars and eat lobster all day

Have you read the Nice Planet Thread? There are aholes out there that would do such a thing. It wouldn't be common, not even close, but I bet it would happen.
