    I like the jumps!

I take your point about both the Vitos and the Michaels. Old Vito is a non-entity; young Vito -- well, it's an incredibly good acting performance and also an awesome story (I'd say Young Vito is up there with Gatsby and Huck Finn and Hester Prynne as the most iconic American stories.)

1 has much more dramatic tension -- Michael is a very good man slipping towards evil. Can he stop himself from succumbing? (Spoiler: No.) There is nothing to compare that in 2 except for the pathos of Fredo. In a weird way Fredo is the greatest character in 2, even though it's as catalyst and not himself.

There's something missing in both of them, but it's not the superficiality of the subject matter. It's less evident in 2 maybe because 2 isn't as close to a true masterpiece as 1. It's like 1 is so close to A+ that you feel a little disappointed, whereas 2 is a solid A with no pretensions so you can just enjoy it.

I don't mind the jumps per se I guess. I think I just care least about the Michael/Kay drama of all of the plotlines, and 2 has that. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's still better than 95% of the stuff out there, and it's nice to remember when Diane Keaton tried, but when compared to the amazingness of the rest of the 2 movies, it's the low point.

I think T1 has way more value than a normal action escape movie. Summer movies don't have to be dumb. Don't be a snob. That's my gig.

I'll allow it that Alien (art horror movie) and Aliens (blockbuster action movie) are doing very different things and can't be compared apples to apples. Good call; I withdraw the comparison.

I dont know...when she tells him about the abortion that is a pretty awesome scene...mainly because you just watch him go from calm to "Is Michael Corleone Gonna Have To Slap a *****" in like 2 minutes

                            The Terminator trailer looks great.

Although It’s difficult to watch that without hearing James Cameron’s “T3 without me” mantra and his recent comments on Star Wars and Marvel being redundant, no new ideas etc

I mean c’mon, you’re producing Terminator 6 (or 3 given he’s ignoring the rest) and 3 Avatar sequels and Disney is the problem?
