I was like that for a few months after my mom passed. Then it becomes a less frequently referenced event. (Thinking about this, it's been 5.5 years since my mom passed away.)
And that makes total sense in a logical way, but as you're quite aware, nothing is particularly logical at the moment.
So very sorry for your loss Swansong. May your memories of her be a comfort to you. My family and I had my dad's 40-day memorial service at church yesterday. I still can't believe he's gone.
The first week is a total blur, isn't it? There's SO MUCH to do, the next time you can even come close to catching your breath is days and days after. Like with your dad, we had time to prepare. And we did. We got a ton of planning done ahead of time. And we were still not ready for the volume.
Thanks everyone.
I gotta little bit of smoke and a whole lotta wine...
Got a call that mr les uncle passed this AM (went to hospice last week) and then within the hour that my bro FIL passed (also went to hospice last week). This is also the anniversary of one of my godmothers passing. Last week someone my uncle was close to was found after being missing (unsure of COD but may have been suicide ) and one of my son's teammates from HS is in the hospital getting serially transfused and having multiple organ issues.
Oh, I forgot one. Up at camp the gal my age died after less than 30 d of pancreatic CA. The family is devastated. We all knew each other but I know the parents better.
Alright, I hope I haven't missed the birth of Hailey Victoria wT!
If she arrives today, know that on this date in 1943 Adolf Galland flew the first operational jet aircraft in history, the Messerschmitt 262. With no propeller, Galland later said that "It felt as though the angels were pushing." (Lucky for us, Hitler's interference in the production of Me262s seriously delayed their use against our B-17s.)
Despite what looks like far less damage in my most recent fender bender (no helium involved), the repair cost estimate is signifcantly more than before.
Almost on the verge of totalling. Not looking forward to discussing a settlement payment if it goes over.
