It's one of the things I like about some of the younger elected officials -- their willingness to speak out, and when criticized for it, their willingness to double down. I don't necessarily think they are right on all of the things that they are speaking out on, and as I've posted before, I don't think it will help them as they seek assistance from others in getting their legislative initiatives passed, but at least they have the courage to say what they think and then refuse to back down. That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

The Judge who oversaw DUI case on GOP Rep Matt Gaetz, had close ties to his father, who threw a welcome home party for the Judge a year earlier. The DUI case was dropped and Gaetz didn’t get his license suspended for refusing breathalyzer, even though Florida law dictates it.

First, we need to be careful with everyone must do X. Even if it benefits everyone, it does cross a line of personal rights. In the case of a death, today someone must give their permission to inject themself. In a case of making them mandatory, there would be some major wrongful death lawsuits. Additionally, someone could tamper with mandatory vaccinations for other purposes...knowing our current lawmakers, it could even be approved. It starts with good intentions and could result in scenarios out of some bad sci fi movie.Go Gophers!
