Two ways to tell your local politicians are clueless:

      1) They embrace casino gambling as a no downside way to grow the economy.
      2) They start relying on parking fines to balance the budget!

      Proceed with caution.

I live in a small town of ~4000 year-round residents that has a National Park that gets ~3,000,000 "visits" per year. Parking is a limited commodity in the summer time. The paid-parking is intended to raise revenue from tourists (free permit parking on residential side streets for town residents), to raise money for expanded public transportation, additional satellite parking lots, expand the free bus system (that also serves the National Park), and also incentivize taking the free bus from your hotel or parking in a free satellite lot.

you wouldn't believe the amount of *****ing this is causing. I predict residents will ***** so much (they don't want to walk from a free resident parking street to get their ****ing ice cream) that the town gives up and gets rid of paid parking before people actually have enough time to adapt to it

                ???

No toll roads, state patrol budget has been cut for years, and I drove for years with a Nebraska plate and never got pulled over.

They have cameras. I've gotten clipped twice with those ****ing things. Sad thing is the second time I was careful as hell and still got a ticket.

There is a spot in Cedar Rapids or Cedar Falls where they have a camera on for about 3 miles, in an area where the limit is 55. It doesn't seem like it should be 55, and a lot of people with Iowa plates are going faster, but you see a lot of out of state travelers pulled over in that area. I think there was even a news story in which they talked about that.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

The violations of the vehicle in motion where attempted enforcement was made with a picture of the vehicle in question was deemed in violation of the rights a person has to confront his/her accuser. I also remember an argument regarding that if the vehicle was loaned to another family member or friend, the ticket was still sent to and assessed against the owner of the vehicle.

On top of that, they aren't law enforcement. They're basically just revenue-generating devices and should be treated as such.

yup. if you let someone do it (just to send a bill later on) there is no enforcement occurring

                                Another Federalist SCOTUS front-runner.

A coalition of organizations, including the NAACP Memphis Branch, Memphis Islamic Center and Jewish Community Partners, are calling for state authorities to censure Criminal Court Judge Jim Lammey.

The organizations cited reporting last week by The Commercial Appeal about anti-immigration articles, memes and conspiracy theories that Lammey recently shared on his personal Facebook page. One article he linked to on April 5 called Muslims "foreign mud" and said Jews should "get the f--- over the Holocaust."
