Skimmed the 105 page DOJ report on Ferguson. I have enough write 34 pages at least on structural inequality in Ferguson, MO for school.

Even with double spacing, 34 pages of well reasoned, clear, concise writing is a lot of work.

My last paper of grad school was a masterpiece- actually got a perfect score. It was analyzing a large birth control education project in Nigeria and its splendid results.

I was so upset I was limited to 20 pages. Probably first time I ever really wanted to go over.

Longest paper I wrote was analyzing the process of German unification in the Catholic states, specifically Bavaria, Baden, and Wurttemberg. 38 pages. It was a lot of work, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, my other activities in college resulted in me forgetting pretty much everything I learned while putting it together.

Longest paper I wrote was analyzing the process of German unification in the Catholic states, specifically Bavaria, Baden, and Wurttemberg. 38 pages. I love that period. Prettiest maps in European history.

It also fascinates me it was recent enough that there are postage stamps issued from each before unification.

I remember back in the day, for Science Fair, you could do an exhibit, or write a 10 page paper. A buddy of mine wanted to do a paper on black holes. Ran into a problem. You could do a 2 page paper, just the highlights. You could do a 30 page paper, and really explain. A 10 page paper just teased. The in-between submission tortured him.

Turns out, I got stuck on the Ferguson paper. Gonna write a different paper, do my final presentation, then come back to the Ferguson paper.

Maybe I should go back to outlines, first drafts, and ****.

Since the August 2014 shooting death of Michael Brown, the lack of trust between the Ferguson Police Department and a significant portion of Ferguson’s residents, especially African Americans, has become undeniable. The causes of this distrust and division, however, have been the subject of debate. Police and other City officials, as well as some Ferguson residents, have insisted to us that the public outcry is attributable to “outside agitators” who do not reflect the opinions of “real Ferguson residents.” That view is at odds with the facts we have gathered during our investigation. Our investigation has shown that distrust of the Ferguson Police Department is longstanding and largely attributable to Ferguson’s approach to law enforcement. This approach results in patterns of unnecessarily aggressive and at times unlawful policing; reinforces the harm of discriminatory stereotypes; discourages a culture of accountability; and neglects community engagement. In recent years, FPD has moved away from the modest community policing efforts it previously had implemented, reducing opportunities for positive police-community interactions, and losing the little familiarity it had with some AfricanAmerican neighborhoods. The confluence of policing to raise revenue and racial bias thus has resulted in practices that not only violate the Constitution and cause direct harm to the individuals whose rights are violated, but also undermine community trust, especially among many African Americans. As a consequence of these practices, law enforcement is seen as illegitimate, and the partnerships necessary for public safety are, in some areas, entirely absent.

The only way this stops is if the dude gets the chair. That's all they understand.

Having state sanctioned lethal force is a privilege. If you abuse it and kill you are a murderer. You should not be shielded.
