This is brilliant. And it’s even good, which was beside the point:

Atlas: Space (instrumental version) - Sleeping At Last

My GF first got me into this album. I'm less of a fan of the vocals but the instrumental version is quite good.

              Norah: Little Broken Hearts

              Dark album.

              Mazzy: She Hangs Brightly.

Either way, Hope or Norah could read every name out of their phone to me and I'd hang on every word.

                  100 ― 200..200....The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
                  200 ― 100..100....The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
                  495 ― 519 ―..380....The Beach Boys - Sunflower
496 ― 488 ―..488....Husker Du - New Day Rising - This is fantastic. Kept me interested throughout every song. And nearly all of them were catchy. Surprising considering it's so out there. I need more. It seems tragic that they didn't have another album on here. Not sure if the rest of them just sucked or what.
                  497 ― 500 ―..000....OutKast - Aquemini
                  498 ― 503 ―..950....Creedence Clearwater Revival - Green River
                  499 ― 530 ―..441....No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom
                  500 ― 516 ―..317....Eminem - The Eminem Show
                  501 ― 535 ―..474....Otis Redding - Live in Europe
                  502 ― 496 ―..000....Boz Scaggs - Boz Scaggs
                  503 ― 497 ―..000....The White Stripes - White Blood Cells
504 ― 528 ―..426....Rage Against the Machine - The Battle of Los Angeles
                  505 ― 524 ―..420....The Beatles - With The Beatles
                  506 ― 499 ―..000....B.B. King - Live in Cook County Jail
                  507 ― 489 ―..489....Kiss - Destroyer - This album is hilarious
508 ― 486 ―..486....Earth, Wind & Fire - That's the Way of the World - Hard to place this one too.* I generally don't like disco-era stuff but I recognize the album's quality
509 ― 485 ―..485....Pearl Jam - Vitalogy - I wanted to like this more. I just didn't think it was their best. I know someone is going to say, "OH THAT WAS THEIR ONLY ALBUM BEFORE THEY SOLD OUT." Roll eyes.
                  510 ― 495 ―..000....Bonnie Raitt - Give It Up
                  511 ― 510 ―..265....Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmo's Factory
                  512 ― 491 ―..491....Albert King - Born Under A Bad Sign - Forgot to jot down notes

                  515 ― 531 ―..444....Boogie Down Productions - Criminal Minded
                  516 ― 492 ―..492....Eurythmics - Touch
517 ― 537 ―..487....The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
                  518 ― 494 ―..000....MGMT - Oracular Spectacular, featuring "Time To Pretend"
                  519 ― 498 ―..000....The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
                  520 ― 511 ―..267....Paul Simon - There Goes Rhymin' Simon
                  521 ― 533 ―..453....Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual
                  522 ― 515 ―..316....No Doubt - Rock Steady
                  523 ― 509 ―..260....Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club
                  524 ― 493 ―..000....Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
525 ― 487 ―..487....Cyndi Lauper - She's So Unusual - Not as bad as I thought.* As I've mentioned before, 80s pop generally sucks hard.* Still not my cup of tea.
                  526 ― 505 ―..164....Linda Ronstadt - Heart Like a Wheel
                  527 ― 520 ―..384....Def Leppard - Pyromania
                  528 ― 514 ―..307....Roxy Music - Avalon
529 ― 490 ―..490....ZZ Top - Tres Hombres - I went in expecting to like this. It was awful. Just boring old white man rock. So generic. Edit: Even a month later I just can't believe how crappy this was compared to what I thought it was going to be. I'm questioning how I put Branded Man below this. One of the reasons I plan to re-listen to it all in order when I'm done.
                  530 ― 517 ―..327....Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
                  531 ― 508 ―..245....Nick Drake - Bryter Layter
                  532 ― 518 ―..379....Bruce Springsteen - Greetings from Asbury Park

                  534 ― 536 ―..484....Merle Haggard - Branded Man
                  535 ― 538 ―..497....Public Enemy - Yo! Bum Rush the Show
                  536 ― 521 ―..387....Roxy Music - Country Life
                  537 ― 512 ―..283....Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
                  538 ― 532 ―..452....Madonna - Music

                  Status: 46 of 500+38 albums

Note: I'm also skipping most of what I consider anthologies or "best ofs" unless they're from an era where there were essentially no albums. For example, see Robert Johnson.

Flip Your Wig is their best album. That's why these lists are always dumb.

I don't disagree. I think a lot of lists are generally garbage. This list is clearly drenched in white male rock, but I think that I have to start somewhere. It's just an interesting experience to go through them. I have a spreadsheet to track all this (yeah yeah, save your laughs) and added Colin Larkin's lists for each of the various genres. That should help get more diversity into the lineup when I'm done with RS.

I'll take your recommendation though and add it to my other non-RS queue. Appreciate that.

That's The Way of The World was well before disco. It's a pure soul/R&B record.

And She's So Unusual is a great record. Had that in my car tape deck constantly when it first came out. Yes, in the days of vinyl, but the first side is as good a side of music you could ever ask for. Second side is a little weak, but the strength of the first side made up for it. Her version of Money Changes Everything whips the original's azz handily.
