Good people on both sides, I assume.

Extra points for the cops' reaction.

If that were a black man putting his hands on a white child, that man would have never made it into cuffs alive.

Just think about what this guy's precursors did all the years before cell phones. And of course, in the years without cell phones the cops would have showed up and arrested the kid.

And then our friends on the right would tut tut about the violence in the black community.

        God bless video.

Treat everyone equally, but charge white people more for tix. D'okay.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

There's a restaurant in New Orleans that ran an experiment like that. To highlight income disparity in the city, white people were asked to pay more than POC. It was around 80% of the time they chose to pay the inflated rate. Of course, that was a voluntary price change. I'm pretty sure it's not legal to do what the festival is doing.

It's great advertising. Obviously they won't be allowed to do it but now they've made the news, gotten a conservation started, and the Usual Suspects will make insane racist false equivalence blatherings which will get people psyched to go. Brilliant.

That's what I was thinking. A music festival with free national publicity. Jeebus, you'd beg for that.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Also, you only have to run one post once and then the news and the argle barglers will take the ball and run with it.

This is Life After Dump. He showed how you can get social media to do all your work for you if you just troll them. Nobody needs an ad budget anymore. Maybe this is how we finally get money out of politics.

Maybe, although I think social media types were going to (or did) figure this out long ago. The fact that something called a "social media influencer" even exists demonstrates the power of the medium, and the depths to which we are plunging.

I think social media companies always claimed they had this power but nobody else really thought people were that dumb. Dump was proof of concept. It is now inarguable that people will believe / transmit information regardless of its truth value as long as it feeds their biases.

People create their own truth; their idiocy cannot be contradicted by facts because they will choose their idiocy. That is the great lesson of Fox, the Echo Chamber and, finally, Dump.

A few months back, there was a story about some guy who runs one of those fancypants over-water hut resorts in the South Pacific or the Indian Ocean, telling "influencers" who ask for free stays to go screw. It was great.

I went to a small resort in the South Pacific a few years ago. I’m talking private , only about 60 people there at a time. One couple was super annoying- had a drone, had several bikini and outfit changes per event. I found them- huge influencers on Instagram with millions of followers, including a bunch of my friends. I’m sure some people thought they were cool, I hoped a shark ate them.
