I don't doubt that she was desperate and I can appreciate the level of poverty so many people here experience. I don't hate her nor do I not understand she is doing this out of necessity. But when you get to know someone over the course of 1 year, tell stories, talk about family, afford them trust, go out of your way over and above them just coming to your house to work, and then this? The cash eff it - the iPad?

And to top it all off a new discovery. She left in such a hurry that she forgot to take her phone with her. Guess what - that phone was my Samsung phone when I moved here and was sitting in a drawer. Again an inconsequential item but it elevates the amount of deception and the feeling of betrayal.

British family on holiday in Vancouver claims a wrong turn at Abbotsford wound up sending them to an US ICE facility in Pennsylvania...

Personally, their story doesn't quite pass the smell test. Although I am unsure of should have escalated that quickly.

I wonder how many really bad decisions began with, "I drank a boatload of PBR, then headed to White Castle."
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

That sounds like more like a path to heaven.

                      OK, this is creepy.

I am throwing a birthday party for Dr Mrs. this year at an axe throwing bar. Accordingly I looked them up, filled in their online reservation, etc, all on my home computer, my home browser, my home accounts and logins.

I come to work the next day and log into my work internet account. Completely different name, different everything. Literally the only thing I log into here the same as home is USCHO.

I immediate begin receiving ads in any ad spaces on other websites for that axe throwing place's events.

                        Google AdSense.

It's likely linked your work and home via USCHO. Unless you have an ad block installed on the work computer.

Ah. I have an ad block at home but not at work because I'm not the admin.

So it has hooked my two ids together because of the common login on one app? That seems like a big assumption but maybe not since the key here is affiliation (even if it's not me it's going to be someone in my family or like me).

I would guess there are still ways around that. Thank you, Cambridge Analytica (and other such companies). They will find you, once you decide to enter the interwebs.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.
