    I was there in '00, and there were some American kids there either just graduated from high school or underclassmen in college. The blonde girl started with, "I don't get, why is this so popular? It doesn't look that special at all." Her friend the replied, "Yeah, I know, right!" I'm standing there, looking around the room at all of the works from masters who were da Vinci's contemporaries, 2-d paintings using bright colors, extolling God and the angels. Then there's the Mona Lisa, a simple painting of a woman, using earth tones and showing depth of field for the background. It's amazing that people exist who either don't or can't understand the epoch this painting represents.

          Agreed. But to be fair, I don't think your average high school kid should be expected to understand European art history at an advanced level like your understanding. It would be amazing to see this and understand it for what it is. Especially in person.

          But alas, Steve Jobs robbed us of that.

            Jobs only made it worse. You can't tell me that Japanese and American tourists weren't snapping bad pics of the Mona Lisa with cheap digital cameras 20 years ago, or film cameras 30+ years ago.

                    Fade is in New York. Just got out of Jagged Little Pill. Lefties will enjoy it, righties will probably be too triggered by the "Believe women" message.

                    Did a great job of telling a story around Alanis' music, rather than just being a concert with some acting.

                                My parents went to see it in Paris 35 years ago. My dad's description, "We waited in line for over an hour to get a 15-second shuffle past a painting the size of a post card."
