Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part III

At #103, Todd Burgess is RPI's highest pick since Brandon Pirri was selected #59 by Chicago in 2009. (Mike Prapavessis was #105.)

RPI's only other pick by Ottawa was Bryan Masotta in 1994. (That's a bad omen. )

Todd Burgess was the third of only six ECAC players and recruits selected in the draft (others: Colgate, Cornell, Harvard, Quinnipiac, St. Lawrence). http://www.uscho.com/2016-nhl-draft-...nd-selections/ or http://collegehockeyinc.com/pages/2016-nhl-draft-picks

.....for book keeping purposes; Praps was #105.
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

Edit: It must have been a shootout.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part III

I like the size I’m seeing here............ Amateur scout Bob Janecyk on fourth-round pick Todd Burgess:

Todd Burgess is 6'3" skilled centre who is a late developer. He cracked his kneecap when he first went in to the North American Hockey League so that set him back probably less than a year. He came back with a vengence last year and had 100 points and his team in Fairbanks won the league championship. He still needs strength. He's a lean kid and I think last time I talked to him he was 182 lbs. I met the kid and he hasn't even shaved yet but his dad is a big man. His dad is 6'4", 230 lbs so that's more of a projection on him. He's going to RPI so he's a collegiate player. http://senators.nhl.com/club/blogpost.htm?id=47020
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

Day 1 notes from the Select 17 tourney. http://teamusa.usahockey.com/news_ar...rer_id=2603660

Both Bendorf and Modry are mentioned -- Bendorf because he was one of the leading scorers in last year's Select 16 and Modry because of his father. The article also confirms that Team Gray one in a shootout.

Congrats to Todd and his family. I also want to congratulate Coach Appert, Coach Graham and Coach Vines on bringing yet another NHL draft pick to Troy.

                                Sorry.

Edit: I just looked at the thread today. It went further downhill after my post here.

I am always amazed by how dumb scouts are. You can tell a lot from a name. A "Burgess" is simply never going to be found on any scoring lists. At best, he will be a large, slow player who watches most plays pass him by.
