    Harvard Hockey 2025-'26: Crimson Ascending

I don't know what possessed me to go out in this weather for tonight's game. Maybe I just wanted to torture myself. And for the better part of two periods, I was beside myself for going to Bright Landry. Then Sean Keohane tied the game with a goal-mouth scramble goal, and everything seemed to...

    Harvard Hockey 2025-'26: Crimson Ascending

Unlike Cornell teams in the past, this edition has some skill and players who can skate. The Crimson, as you say, lack skill up front and are soft on D. A bad combination. Then again, look at what Colgate did to Dartmouth last night. Shocker.

    Harvard Hockey 2025-'26: Crimson Ascending

Except for five minutes late in the second period, the Crimson pretty much had control of this game from the drop of the puck. Colgate had major problems in their own end and couldn't generate any sustained offense until late in the second period. Harvard contributed to that stretch by not...

    Harvard 2025-26: Year Three

Last night's game against the Saints felt like a loss. And I'm not referring to the shootout. Harvard allowed SLU to hang around much too long, and all it took was one shot to even the game. Mind you, it was a great shot - looked like Tuffy thought it was going to hit her in the mask, so she...

    Harvard 2025-26: Year Three

I thought I had seen it all in the Beanpot tournament. Then comes Monday night and a historic end with a penalty shot goal. I didn't realize that McSweeney had a choice: the penalty shot or a two-minute power play. She had tremendous confidence in choosing the former, and she cashed in. Good for...

    Harvard Hockey 2025-'26: Crimson Ascending

I thought the Crimson did a great job defensively against Union. It might have been their best defensive effort of the season. And the Ben McDonald goal was filthy - the passing to set up the goal from Stefanik to Lane to MacDonald was a thing of beauty. Keep the line together. They seem to be...

    Harvard 2025-26: Year Three

Good point about the coffee. No Dunkin, no go. I'm staying home to watch on NESN in part because Angela Ruggiero will be doing color commentary for the game. She's also headed to Italy to do women's hockey for NBC. We owe BU for the Belfast tourney. Although it would have been great to win in...

    Harvard Hockey 2025-'26: Crimson Ascending

A nice six-point weekend. Last night's game was a bit chippy, with Will Hughes mixing it up several times with Clarkson D. I thought Harvard played well in the first two periods, then let down in the third. The Knights have some talented freshmen (7 players from the Quebec and Ontario Juniors)...

    Harvard Hockey 2025-'26: Crimson Ascending

I think that is one reason why Matthew Biotti and Donato Bracco are in the lineup and playing regular minutes. Lucas St. Louis looks overmatched defensively. He isn't contributing offensively either. Let's face it, the talent and skill on the roster are lacking when compared to high-end teams...

    Harvard 2025-26: Year Three

Weekend split with Brown and Yale. The Brown game was wild with the OT finish with a second left. I missed the Yale game. At least they are competitive and making strides to improve. It will take a couple of strong recruiting classes to finish in the top four in the ECAC, but they seem headed in...

    Harvard Hockey 2025-'26: Crimson Ascending

Tough loss to the Green on Friday in Hanover. We never seemed to get untracked offensively and had too many defensive blunders that cost us. Dartmouth is for real despite what happened at Quinny and Princeton. I expect them to be in the NCAA tournament. For Harvard, it's a different story...

    Harvard 2025-26: Year Three

Can't add anything to your great recap. Except that, understandably, the team had a letdown the following day. Beating UMD is a signature win and probably took everything they had in them to finish off the game. I get that. But they're in Belfast for crying out loud. Give Davidson a memory that...

    Harvard 2025-26: Year Three

I'm in Virginia visiting classmates and friends, so I missed the tournament. When I saw the scoreboard, I had to look twice to make sure it was real. Then I checked the stats. 55 saves for Tuffy! Wow! This is their best win since the Beanpot a few years ago. Curious as to why Bellamy chose to...

This is great news. Colin Graf was a terrific player for the Bobcats. Looking forward to seeing his brother in a Crimson uni.

    Harvard Hockey 2025-'26: Crimson Ascending

I'm in Virginia visiting with classmates and friends when I checked in on this weekend's action. I wish I had stuck to partying. Not having seen either game, I have nothing but the stats to go on. What happened at Quinny is shocking to say the least. The Bobcats were missing several players due...

Dartmouth Hockey - Because it deserves it

As Dartmouth's travel partner and with family that graduated from the College, it's good to see the Green high up in the rankings. Time for them to make a run in the NCAAs, although I may be getting ahead of myself!

    RPI 2025-2026

You're forgiven. Heck, the ECAC doesn't look like it has a dominant team this year. Outside of Cornell, perhaps?

    Harvard 2025-26: Year Three

Tough way to end the first semester. Harvard had their chances but couldn't beat Keating. And no matter who coaches RPI, they play the same style against Harvard every year. Physical hockey, clogging up their D zone and waiting for breaks to cash in, which is exactly what happened. On to Belfast.

Oh thanks. Like, we're chopped liver?

    Harvard Hockey 2025-'26: Crimson Ascending

Nice way to end the first semester by doing a number on Brown. Although we outshot them by a wide margin, things got a little prickly in the third before Aiden Lane put things away with his second goal of the game. Harvard doesn't seem to enjoy the prosperity of a lead. That's just me being...
