The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
That class was easily Maine's best, hands-down. That was probably the best college hockey team ever. They were a few lazy periods away from going 45-0.
The '99 team wasn't nearly as deep, but they brought lunch buckets to the rink every time out. Ground it out against more talented teams more...
Talked to his family at a Lowell game many years ago. His uncle said "Nicky only skates when he has the puck". His Mom said something like "He thinks he's God's gift to the game of hockey, but he's got a rude awakening coming".
Funniest hockey family EVER! Great people.
A bit off-topic, but -as we are contractually obligated to despise BC- it was great fun to see baseball down them just now.
This team is hot. Another AE title seems likely.
Not delighted to hear that, he certainly had the potential to become a factor.
But, that's how it goes these days. He won't be missed much at Maine, and I wish him the best.
Now THAT was funny! And very likely accurate.
I'll never grasp why people (OK, currently, just the one jerk-off) derive such deep fulfillment in sniping at (another) completely irrelevant entity on here, or anywhere. It certainly seems to speak to living a lesser life.
While I'm at it, my...
(Gotta love the Mom's-basement-dwelling career-trolls posing as "new members" for the sake of a cheap shot...)
Anyway. this is all speculation, hearsay and/or just plain bullshit right now.
Having said that, pay-for-play is what college sports do now. If NIL is OK, why shouldn't this be OK...
Sounds like this article is cut from the same cloth as Faux News and Joe Rogan's bullshit.
But,if there is any actual proof, do tell.
(I expect crickets, BTW.)
Your "honeymoon" comment is, sadly, spot-on, IMO. This is just getting started, as you implied.
Hard to imagine that Maine can offer anywhere near the same amount of cash as the bigger schools will, once those deep-pocket schools decide how to parse it out.
Next year might be OK, but down the...
Never a Boston fan (they shamelessly ripped-off The James Gang) but, yeah, we saw The Cars at that bar just off campus in (maybe) 1978. Think they called that place "Planet Orono". Didn't last long, that bar, but the show was free.
Yup, the Cars were a bar-band from Boston back then, just...
Conference, schmonference...
The SOS was an objective calculus that year, and the SOS did not take into effect any silly-ass conference affiliation(s).
It's about the entire season's data, period. As in, every single game vs. every team played.
I don't get why that fact is so difficult to grasp.
