The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Couldn't agree more and said as much way back in the annals of this thread's history. Whatever they can do to get butts in the seats and generate some buzz should be high on the AD's to do list. Near the top of that list should be having a real social media and online engagement presence...
I think you have to take the attitude that first year, even the first two, are rebuilds and you are happy for whatever success you manage to get. It's tough for us as fans after having waited so long for that success to come and we're impatient now, but if his coaching is as much an improvement...
Like I said about 40 pages ago, enough things have lined up at the Tute to feel like a real sea change rather than some deck chair rearranging. We can, for now at least, feel some optimism! :)
Interestingly, I recently watched that '85 championship retrospective video with Pierre Langevin and he made mention of how big the D guys on that team were. Seems like a pretty critical ingredient.
Agree, it's not on the short list of things to address. I think it's more that the shuttering of the tournament was an indication of the decline of the program overall, and its (eventual) revival would be part of a renaissance. Aspirational at this point.
I like this idea! How about this... RPI and Union could co-host the "Capital District Invitational Tournament" in place of the Mayor's Cup. Invite two other schools and have RPI and Union play other opponents in the first round. If they both advance then they play for bragging rights in the...
It was the oldest in the country when it ended was it not? If we can rekindle interest in the team and get attendance up then maybe they could bring it back - with you on that 100%!
I agree, I feel like he could be The Guy. Dave Smith's hiring surprised me, and although he had things moving in a better direction before getting done in by COVID and Shirley, I never really felt like he was The Guy. Not to get ahead of ourselves here but with Lang I feel like we might have...
The presser was pretty good! I was hoping there would be some televised Q&A from the press after the speeches but they just had breakout sessions and ended the live feed. Coach Lang had some pretty encouraging things to say about his expectations for being able to win and support from the...
All this optimism and interest in the coaching change got me down a rabbit hole of reliving the glory days (and the dream of perhaps returning to them). I had consumed plenty of info over the years about the '85 championship, which was during my lifetime and not long before I matriculated, but...
Great post. I was genuinely upset when you shut WaP down but I understood. Honestly it was hard to fathom the amount of time and effort you put into it, especially considering the headwinds of administrative (lack of) support. I have heard from enough people in the alumni community with...
I'm elated that we got Lang but watching the Rangers' dumpster fire of a season wind down has me wondering if Dan Muse might have ended up being available after all. :p
It's probably a good thing they are still in the ECAC where I think they can be competitive at least in their league. A guy like Lang has demonstrated he can do a lot with a little and hopefully RPI gives him more to work with than he had at AIC. If they can make it to the big dance every now...
I sure hope he conditioned his hiring on investment in the program, because boy do they need it. Upgrade or replace HFH, get your social media presence up to snuff, engage the community, the alumni, embrace your program's storied history and treat it as the crown jewel of campus life and not an...
