Maine Black Bears 2026 Offseason: Missing Out on Mistlebacher

I'm counting 19 roster sports filled (13 returnees + 6 transfers).......room for 7 more? Heisenberg has 19 players coming in the 2026 freshman class.....safe to say that many recruits are about to drop off Maine's list. I have: Lafton (D) Fleece (RW) Calvert (LW) Voronin (LW) McKinnon (LW)...

Maine Black Bears 2026 Offseason: Missing Out on Mistlebacher

Yeah....seems like the CHL experiment is going to take a backseat to the portal which I am thankful for. As someone else mentioned....last season was a CHL feeding frenzy and there didn't seem to be much vetting of players brought in. At least with the transfers we know that they can function...

Maine Black Bears 2026 Offseason: Missing Out on Mistlebacher

I don’t think that BIG programs want to pay him as much as his agent wants them to pay him.

Maine Black Bears 2026 Offseason: Missing Out on Mistlebacher

Arthur S. Demoulas is reportedly worth $1.5-$3 billion.

I guess that Poirier’s “injury” wasn’t too bad if Big Ten teams are going to pay him Big Bucks.

Maine Black Bears 2026 Offseason: Missing Out on Mistlebacher

Poirier is obviously an offensive talent but I’m not sure he’s the type of team player that wins you a NC. Yes I’m trying to spin this into something positive.😂

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

So anyone else feeling slightly better about the season now that Maine went 1-0-1 vs. the National Champs? That was quite a show in Vegas this weekend. Frozen 4 should be there every year.

Man these hockey ticket price increases have everyone going full paranoid with conspiracy theories. Tell Arthur S. Demoulas to take his $500K back.....we don't need it! 🙄

Maybe you can provide your services so everything is run the “Drew way”.

So what exactly is the problem again?

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Yes....the money will be used in THE MEN'S ICE HOCKEY PROGRAM for the Black Bear Student-Athlete Experience Fund......which I'm sure was communicated to the donor before they gave them $500K. Honestly Drew.....you probably need to find another program to "root for". 🙄

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

WTF are you talking about Drew? This gift is specifically dedicated to men's ice hockey. They are simply describing the student athlete experience fund in detail so people like you can't twist what it is. And as far as /marketing/ticketing goes....over 75 universities and conferences use that...

Huh interesting….Arthur S Demoulas died in 2018….must be a gift from his family or foundation. Arthur S. Is one half of the famous Deloulas Family of Lowell that owns Market Basket. He sold out his stake in the company in 2014 to his cousin Arthur T. Demoulas for $1.6 billion.

In general I would group HE teams like this in terms of attractiveness to Maine fans.... Premium A: BC, BU, UNH Premium B: UConn, UMass, Providence Premium C: Northeastern, UMass-Lowell, Merrimack, Vermont

I wonder if they have ever thought of hosting a game at Alfond Stadium? They could probably squeeze in close to 10K. Might be something to consider down the road after Morse Arena is completed and the Pine Club opens. Seems like it could be a huge money maker.

Hey….I’ve got half season tix buddy!😉 I agree with you though as long as they grandfather the people that have them…or offer them the first opportunity to buy a full season.
