The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
I think Shyiak has done a good job with the situation he inherited. Somehow he has to build a family/team culture that creates a desire to stay. It is notable that Northern does not get Blown out. They have lost a ton of close games.
I am not blaming the coach. The whole college hockey system is broken, and eventually we will be left with only 10-20 teams that can afford to maintain programs. Then, only a few of those teams will have all the top talent because of NIL, so we will see the same teams in the championship game...
Five wins total last year and one win so far this year. Attendance so for this year averages 2656 (ten home games), as reported in the box scores. Take out three big games MSU (2) and Tech(which likely had a bunch of Tech fans), the average is 2126. Actually, I thought the numbers would be much...
As a Northern Grad, many years ago, this whole NIL transfer portal situation has me pretty gloom and doom toward College Hockey. Northern's program is a mess, and I don't see how the U.P. schools, as well as the CCHA, can compete with the money being shoveled to the other conferences. All due...
I agree. Not that I think Northern would have done anything with the opportunity. If your girlfriend dumps you for another guy, you don't still take her to the prom.
I did a quick search, and I will repeat quick, but from what I can see, this is the first year in the history of the program that Northern will not play in the conference playoffs. No where to go but up.
I get nobody wants to talk about this season, and this team has lost a ton of games. But, rarely do they get blown out. Frequently, they are losing by a goal or in overtime. This weekend they got a split against Lake Superior and lost by one goal Friday.
Hats off to you Cats. Keep up the good...
