The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
VTSU Castleton announced this morning that effective next year they will be a core member of the MASCAC, bringing all 20 of their varsity programs (inlucding men's and women's ice hockey) under the MASCAC umbrella.
Any thoughts on how Castleton stacks up against the other MASCAC teams?
When the tweet I saw said close to campus I assumed it would be walking distance. 3 1/3 miles is still too far for students who don't drive to attend the games, but maybe it will help attendance from the town?
A couple of interesting news pieces this week:
1) St. Mary's has named Lawrence assistant Emily Bauer as the new head coach of the Cardinals. She is also the former head coach of the Wisconsin Selects U-19. Emily is the twin sister of reigning and defending National Coach of the Year Biz...
In transfer news: Goalie Amelia Lebrun will transfer to Hiram, forwards Katelyn Cyr from St. John Fisher and Mason Puumala from Rivier to Framingham State, and Ella Procyk from Plattsburgh to Elmira.
I managed to compile 95 recruits as a first drop, admittedly skewed towards the eastern...
IMO, unless you're a fan of the perennial champion of a bad conference, you should not advocate for six-team conferences. Unless the number of new programs keeps adding bids to the tourney, they just cannibalize at large bids.
Debuting program Western CT State has three transfers so far: Aerie Sanders from King's, Shayleigh Nelson from Anna Maria and Alyssa Jimenez from Central CT State' men's ACHA club.
Jasmyn German is going from Chatham to Augustana's ACHA team.
St. Joseph also has the following transfers:
Noa...
My life has been crazy over the last year, and I don't have my database of recruits like I used to. Here's some of what I know to start:
Transfers:
Hamline has two transfers: defender Audrey Hetman from DII St. Michael's and goaltender Lauren Hernick from Penn State
Wilkes has picked up...
My understanding of the rationale is that right now, DIII athletic departments can choose between the portal or the old permission to contact forms, and the NCAA doesn't want there to be two different standards. They decided that the portal is the better option as it gives the players more...
The portal will become mandatory starting with the new academic year (August 2026). The transfer windows get published at the start of the academic year by the NCAA. At D1, the open window began the Monday after the respective championship games for the men and women; I imagine DIII will be...
A D-II school can compete for the D-I championship in sports where the NCAA doesn't sponsor a D-II championship. They have to follow the athletic scholarship rules of D-II; but to my best understanding, the NCAA began allowing D-II women's ice hockey to have the same amount of athletic...
Wilkes (DIII) forward Renee Ng is transferring to Lindenwood following two seasons as a point-per-game player (52 points in 52 games across both seasons).
Players at both schools will have a 15 day window to enter the portal beginning the sooner date of either 5 days after a new coach is named or 30 days after the departing coach resigned.
With Anna Maria shutting down, another MASCAC program is coming, as last fall, Fitchburg State announced it would elevate the club women's hockey team to varsity for Fall 2027.
They haven't announced a coaching hire, but now would be the right time, as recruiting for Fall 2027 will start to...
I believe Gophers have until 4/11 to enter the portal because of the coaching change.
The press release announcing May as the new HC was 3/22 and the 5 day buffer takes the start of Minnesota's HC change transfer window to 3/27. 15 days from 3/27 would be 4/11.
