UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
I totally get your points about how vital institutional support is..goes without saying. We had a vital and yes dynamic booster org...but someone felt it wasn't necessary? I sat across my from my seats last game and saw a 'blue line club' for women's hockey? What's up with that?- HockeyRef

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
Well it's quite obvious UNH doesn't have the resources they once had but gee haven't they done what the HC has asked for over the years? (Shrunk the rink etc) Thought that was the main drawback..or at least it was at the time? If throwing $$ at a problem makes it better then we are 3 to 5...- HockeyRef

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
I said as much...he's not available but I think there's others like him who would jump at the chance to coach a D1 program. But thats not gonna happen here. On another note I see NH is using the SNHU ice for its state championships...- HockeyRef

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
Thanks for these posts! Gives me HOPE...(see my prior post lol). I think Kevin Goumas went to Cushing? Interesting he didn't go to New Hampton school...there have been some decent skaters who have made their way to the NCAA's from this area even with these small time programs (don't tell Tim W...- HockeyRef

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
But but who's gonna replace him? Who's gonna accept a measly 240K (or less, since you're new)? That's all I hear on social media. I say BS to that...there are plenty of eager coaches out there, maybe some HC's...who would take this job. What an opportunity; new facility coming...sure, the U is...- HockeyRef

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
Great post Dan! A kids gonna give 1000% if they feel it's worth it and appreciated. Sometimes I think Souza's complaining about why he doesn't have this..or that filters down to his players. Of course this is an assumption on my part...but if he only has to be seen at a pre season barbeque...and...- HockeyRef

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
Just want to say that as far as I know, or remember at least, no one here has commented on Mike Souza's integrity personally? Or his wife/family other than his (Souza) comment that players often 'meet their wives' at UNH/college. I believe his daughter has committed to UNH hockey...Anyway...the...- HockeyRef

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
Yes our dollars are being stretched very, very thin particularly with education. Maine is fortunate (UMaine and all else I assume?) that they have an fund like the Alfond...which I know very little if anything, about. I read an interview with Mike Souza lamenting that NH/UNH doesn't have such a...- HockeyRef

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
Well he (Cashman) won't be available until 2028..Souza's contract is up at the end of March 2027. By then UNH will be either resigning him (which I believe like Snively65 and others) will be the most likely scenario or moving on from him.- HockeyRef

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
Best post of the day. Am rooting for the Big Green!! But it comes down to the 'NH' problem of no $$...not sure what he makes but has to be more than 240k? Still...intriguing idea..- HockeyRef

So then we are basically stuck until UNH finds 400k plus for a new HC? Talk about things that are never going to happen...- HockeyRef

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?
Couldn't agree more. I try not to be political here but it's probably no secret that I am a staunch Dem lol. And as a former educator it pains me to see the direction NH continues to take in regard to state funding of education. Not sure the state of UNH Hockey is much of a priority if it...- HockeyRef
