The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Thanks for the info, but it smells like the NCAA is (once again) fixing what ain't broke.
D-3 has been a free-for-all (as far as transferring) for as long as I've paid attention, and why not? There's no money involved, and pretty-much zero National interest.
Let the boys play where they want...
Hell, if I had caught the damn thing, it woulda been 31" by now!
(OK, just had to look it up; the Maine record is an astonishing 7 lb, 2 oz. hog from Balch Lake in 2007. They didn't list its length, but the tables have it at nearly a yard long. Andy's likely went around 4 and a half or so...
Ambajesus is pretty tough to beat, too, as far as the name goes.
My uncle from Millinocket had a camp there. Wasn't a great place to fish, but one time I took my 7 YO cousin out in the middle of the pond to attempt to catch a stray togue.
Well, fuck me running, that kid hauled in a 28"...
I suppose I could look this up, but isn't the portal essentially tits on a bull for D-3 hockey anyway? Hasn't it been the case for years that there existed no penalty for transferring?
Mankato is good, Bemidji is better. Ask anybody.
MN has almost as many NA nameplaces as Maine does, and that's a good thing, but I think Maine edges them out.
(Kenduskeag, for example, is pretty tough to beat... Ditto, Mooselookmeguntic,, where my Grampie was a fishing guide, but the list goes...
I've been keeping my yap shut lately (for a change) but this NIL shit..? No way it's going to work for the Maines of the world.
The best a Maine can hope for is to put together a Cornell-style program, and sneak into the tournament every few years, then exit early, just to say they got there...
I wouldn't be surprised to see nearly every prominent college hockey coach vie for a Big 10 job, as early as next season, Barr included. That's where the money is, and it's becoming all about the money across the board.
The hand-writing is on the wall. NIL will render the smaller money programs...
It'll probably be that way EVERY year. for most teams.
Hell, as was mentioned above, "Michigan" won an NC last night without a single Michigan recruit on the floor... Only NIL paid-to-play transfers.
Might signal the end of programs like Maine (or anyone in Hockey East) winning Jack Shit. And...
(I would like to employ that expression in my future posts, if it isn't your copyrighted intellectual property. My people will contact your people.)
But it'll be interesting to see how many MC guys go D-3, and what sort of impact they might have.
Certainly there have been a number of...
Yup.
And, again, if those bad losses to UHN and UVM had been wins, Maine would've been dancing this year, and this thread would've had a better tone, or at least a different thing to complain about.
(As in, griping about being sited in Sioux Falls. ;) )
I think it's likely that just about all of Mercyhurst's guys -should they opt to transfer- will end-up in D-3. I don't envision much of any interest from any D-1 teams outside of *maybe* a couple in the AHA. Mercyhurst was a bad team in a bad conference.
Marques fell far short of expectations. He was a cruiser, not a battler. I won't miss him.
Poirer and Lupinski will be sorely missed if they depart. Those two showed up for every game. JP has been the most talented 2-way guy Maine has had for years.
I wish that Josh had hung around, he was...
I didn't see what happened to create that instant odd-man (obstructed view), but you nailed it, Drafty.
On replay, the Hobart guy had to wait a second too long to jump the boards, and he was already a couple of strides behind the play at that point.
Might have been the only telling D mistake...
You guys are far funnier than expected, nice work!
And, to conclude my season here, take my advice and don't marry a hot Czech girl under ANY circumstances. They are nothing but trouble, in the long run.
(I wouldn't be the official asshole of this site if I didn't say this much:)
We sat in the top row of Section 101. Should have been good seats, but that area and 102 were -for some reason- completely infested with Hobart kids.
We had no problem with their general enthusiasm, their chants...
We saw an extremely handsome 45/50-ish guy at the game today, on the concourse, wearing a classic Colgate hoodie.
I had to physically restrain The Warden from jumping his bones, (She does that sort of thing frequently),
Was that guy, you, Shabby?
