    Their "five year clock" starts when they enroll. But because football (and volleyball) are fall sports only, their clock starting to run early doesn't matter. But for an ice hockey player, it could well matter.

    So, what do they do during the spring? What is the advantage? How does not being in either school for the spring gain them anything? (Not to mention they miss out playing the spring half of their senior year in high school.) Entering in the fall isn't "early".

    I don't. But the NCAA seems to be allowing more "opening season" events that allows teams to play more non-conference matches. So maybe.

    It's been talked about for at least a couple years now, and the concern was always what effect a conference tournament would have on teams playing a bunch of VB right before heading into the NCAA tournament. Would three or more matches tire them out, and hurt their performance in the NCAAs, etc...
